"But it is impossible to ignore the humanitarian crisis caused by the war in Ukraine. And it is impossible to imagine the Golden Arches representing the same hope and promise that led us to enter the Russian market 32 years ago."
After Russian troops entered Ukraine in March, many U.S. death merchants announced that they were closing their operations in Russia. One of those death merchants was McDonald’s, one of the leading causes of obesity, diabetes, and hyper-tension in the U.S. today!
This week, McDeaths announced that they were leaving Russia permanently over the invasion of Ukraine and the humanitarian “crisis” that it caused. My instant thought was “Congratualtions to Russia, over one-million lives saved,” by this action. Then I thought, “how many invasions, occupations, humanitarian crises, and oppression of all sorts will it take before McDeaths leaves the U.S.?” Which country has created more pain in the world, the U.S., or Russia?
Of course, the answer is simple: The U.S.
Since the rise of McDeaths and other fast-food death merchants, obesity, diabetes, heart disease, and other life-style conditions have been on the rise. I don’t think I need to quote statistics for anyone reading this to know that it’s the obvious truth, but I will share a few.
When the covid flu hit here in the U.S. in 2020, it “invaded” a nation that was already very ill: According to the CDC (Covid Disinformaton Center), just under 42% of adults here were obese, as well as 22% of adolescents. The CDC also reports that almost half (47%) of the adults in the U.S. have hypertension (pre-pandemic stats).
A few months ago, I read a sad story about a man in his 40s who died from coronavirus and his wife said, “he was pretty healthy, he was just overweight and took blood-pressure medication.” Honey, that ain’t healthy—that’s already two comorbidity strikes against your spouse, but it is an interesting spotlight on what passes for “healthy” in the U.S.
McDeaths advertises its burgers as being “100% beef, no extenders, or fillers.” Even though they did take the disgusing “pink slime” out of their beef, it is made from sick cows who get all kinds of antibiotics, artificial hormones, and other pre-kill “additives” just so the poor animals can survive to be slaughtered and ground up to go into a child’s “Happy” meal; or ingested into the bodies of people who are already teetering on immuno-compromised, if not already fully immersed in this sick merry-go-round of: bad food, bad health, bad medicine, bad outcomes.
The main point to me, though, is McDeaths seems to be perfectly content to operate in a nation that is the “Number one purveyor of violence in the world today” (MLK, Jr 04/04/67). If the criteria for being able to do business as a death merchant in a country is based on how much violence that nation creates, McDeaths should have left here decades ago. Just think of how much healthier we might be and how much better our immune systems might have been to fight off the Co-flu?
What is Russian for “good riddance.”

May I suggest Morgan Spurlock’s excellent documentary

Cindy; I like your attitude. I was active with the anti-war activists in the late 60's. Have since given up hope for a rational, humanitarian foreign policy in America. Our leaders are Nazis.
