I, as a 67-year old human take zero drugs—legal, illegal, or somewhere in-between. I do not take drugs because I don’t trust them, nor do I trust many people who prescribe them. I have observed, that if you take one drug, you’re going to have to take another to ameliorate the side effect—then you have to take two more because the side effect double.
However, I think everyone can agree that we here in the US pay an astronomical amount of money for prescriptions—so much so that many of us cannot even afford to pick them up at pharmacies. Or, they take 1/2 dose to survive. I know many people like this.
If this does happen, I know it will be a major improvement in the lives of many people.
Age:
The number of prescriptions filled tends to increase with age. For example, a 2017-2020 study found that while 49.9% of people used at least one prescription drug in the past 30 days, 24.7% used three or more, and 13.5% used five or more.
Frequency:
A survey by Statista found that more than a third of respondents were taking prescribed medicine daily, and one in five were taking it several times a day.
Other factors:
The number of medications a person takes can also be influenced by their overall health, chronic conditions they may have, and the specific medications prescribed to them.
I watched the press conference about equalizing drug prices between nations and RFFKJ made the statement that the people here in the US pay more than $1100 per capita for prescription drugs while in the UK, they pay less than $250. Big pHARMa says that it’s necessary of US to pay more for R&D, but why do other “developed” nations have to fund R&D? It’s because Big pHARMa is a powerful lobby in the b.s. filled Halls of Congress. To forestall one criticism I would have, and others, is that it will hurt “developing” nations, but Trump said that they would help in developing countries.
But, how will the Dumbo-crats spin this announcement as a bad thing? Of course, time will tell how much we average Joes and Josephines will benefit, but what do you think?

I find it bizarre that "prescription drug prices" are such a huge issue. It's tragic really.

The Dems will squeal about (and campaign on) "Socialism!" and "Communism!". Even if only one drug is affected. They are more comfortable with Bernie's photo-op buses to Canada. Which, IIRC, accomplished nothing at all. But reeled in votes and money for the Dems.
