The current required pro-Israel attitude is relatively recent. Our media in the late '40s and early '50s was much more objective on the subject, discussing how the British created the problem. The whole middle east simply wasn't INTERESTING to the media and government, which is a healthy attitude.

The new attitude started in the 1980s with Reagan's mobilizing of the Christians, and accelerated in the 90s when the Bush family decided to focus on that part of the world. Now we must devote ALL OF OUR ATTENTION to this one tiny part of the world, and we must take Israel's side.
