I would also add that "medicare for all" wouldn't have stopped the "pandemic," nor would it had "saved lives." The US "health" care system is a fucking shitty system propped up by big pharma and HMO administrators making decisions based on cost. Designed to keep us, or make us ill.
(Not talking about the good docs and nurses out there, but there are also plenty of incompetent ones--you know who you are).
The same self-righteous liberals that ridiculed homeschooling families are now cheering for longer school closures, forcing ALL the children and families into that situation.
We know some students here who still don't have the tech needed to participate in distance "learning."
"The New Normal?" I don't get this phrase as it applies to the U.S. The "Normal" was constant war for immense suffering for millions and extraordinary profits for the few; "Normal" was the extrajudicial killing of people of color with little accountability for the cops; "Normal" was low paid jobs and zero benefits; "Normal" was pipelines and fracking; "Normal" was GMO and pharmaceutical companies making us the sickest "first" world country on the planet," "Normal" was student loans and pathetic education.
I don't want to go back to the "Old Normal," but I am fearful that the New Fear will help usher in a "New abNormal" that sucks even harder than before.
I wonder how many elections have been held since 1776 here in the US of A? Yet, we still have the shittiest and most vicious empire on the planet and it gets worse. Maybe one more will make everything better? We just haven't had enough yet.
