I want to like Cornel West, or at least I used to want to like him. Being an unsentimental cynical type myself, I have a natural aversion to people who come across to me as constitutionally programmed to be ultra-positive, optimistic, upbeat, etc. I try to be "fair" and resist this reflexive dislike, but I seldom transcend or overcome it.
I know some people automatically think highly of persons who supposedly "never 'go negative'", but I'm not one of them; rightly or wrongly, I just don't trust exuberantly cockeyed optimists. West is too effusive in general, and fawning over the abominable Fauci reaches toxic levels of glurge-mongering.
Maybe fellow unreserved Fauci-admirer Joan Baez will paint another flattering Fauci portrait and give it to West at the next Fauci Fan Club meeting. 🤨
