Holiday Card Showcase of Shame
A few days ago, I received the above holiday card. The hypocritical irony is that it is from the U.S. Military and I’d like to share with you the myriad of thoughts and emotions this kind of obvious, delusional crap brings up in me.
First of all, their apparent slogan “Never Forgotten…Never Alone” is a bunch of basic bull-crap. As the person who was Casey’s “Next of Kin,” I am the so-called “survivor,” not him. If you are reading, or hearing about this for the first time: My son Casey was killed in the illegal and immoral U.S. occupation of Iraq on 04 April 2004. Besides this once-per-year load of b.s., I NEVER hear from Survivor Outreach Services. I am 100% certain, despite all my best efforts, this government is doing everything in its power to forget me, let alone the person it sacrificed, my dear son, Casey.
Secondly, it’s a harsh reminder that my son will miss Christmas for the 19th time since he was murdered by a greedy and ungrateful nation. It also reminds me that monsters like George Bush, Dick Cheney, Condi Rice, et al, are still alive and enjoying (as much as psychopaths are able to have feelings) the holiday season with their friends and families. The only ones who aren’t being filled with holiday cheer are dead demons like Kissinger and Rumsfeld who both died of natural causes after long, and profoundly, evil lives.

The one positive thing about receiving this card is that my 12-year-old grandson Jackson was with me. Besides being an incredible baseball player and athlete, this kid is also a straight-A student and extremely intelligent. We were walking home from the Post Office, so it gave us another chance to re-engage (at his age-level) with US imperialism and the neo-liberal destructive greed that killed his Uncle years before he was born. What galls me the most about this fucking card is that it has the audacity to send the message of “Peace on Earth.” I wonder if my SOS officer (name redacted) whom I have never met, or heard from since she has become my SOS officer, had any sense of irony as she was signing this parody of holiday greetings.
Even though the war machine is trying to forget me and the Pentagon’s Covid psy-op ended my world traveling (even if most of the orgs I used to work with didn’t go Covid coocoo, I don’t feel like getting on a plane where the pilot might get a case of “Died Suddenly”), I am still shouting from my various platforms about the evils of US imperialism and the way forward without it.
With my fellow survivors of the tragedy that stole our dear Casey, I am NEVER alone and am able to live a very fulfilling life which must be my greatest revenge, since U.S. War Criminals have very little chance of being held accountable.
This would be a more realistic and honest holiday greeting from the #1 Death Merchant on the planet:

I was beginning to believe we are actually in End of Times. I feel depleted of energy so your post today reminds me there are children on this planet who at the very least deserve a sane and just government. Your continued relentless activism helps me face the future with renewed hope. As long as there are Cindy Sheehans, there will be the possibility of a greater future for grandchildren and their parents. It's unbelievable the hypocrisy that permeates our "society." Blathering on about Peace on Earth while innocents are being slaughtered and starved in the land where Jesus Christ was born. I can hardly even stomach it in "normal" times but this year it is just insanity...
