I am on a brief trip with my family down in Southern California to support and cheer for my grandson and his baseball team who are playing in a state-wide tournament. Our family loves baseball: from PeeWee to the Pros. My favorite all-time player is my grandson and my favorite team is whatever team is fortunate enough to include him on their roster! (In my humble, Gigi, opinion).
However, no matter how much we love baseball as a family or nation, we have to be real: besides panicking over whatever the rulers tell us to panic over, the national pastime is really, and ever has been: war.
Speaking of my grandchildren (one of my favorite personal pastimes), because their Uncle Casey was killed in Iraq, trying to explain to them what and why is war, you really get a killer dosage of ridiculousness.
“Gigi, why are there wars?”
“Well, sweetheart, there are some powerful people who make a lot of money when war, and rumours of war happen. There is no ‘noble’ imperial war waged on poor people, but politicians, media, and billionaires make obscene amounts of money and gain obscene amounts of power. It’s hard to believe, but they really don’t care how many people are killed, or maimed, or how many communities or nations are destroyed.”
My grandkids don’t understand this monstrous mentality and I really don’t either—-perhaps, because we are not bloodthirsty war criminals?
There have been countless numbers of immoral, unethical, and criminal U.S. led wars over the history of this nation, but particularly since 9/11/2001 the problem seems worse.
Let’s take a look at 9/11/2001.
Even though I am not exactly sure who was responsible for 9/11, I do know that I don’t believe the “official story.” Whatever happened that day, the U.S. used it as another opportunity for unconscionable profits for such outfits such as Raytheon, Cheney’s Halliburton, oil companies, and other war profiteers.
How different would the world be, if on that day, we had reasonable national leadership, or a population that wasn’t crying out for vengeance?
Even if a dozen-and-a-half Muslims with box cutters really knocked down four buildings with airplanes, what if, instead of immediately invading and occupying (for over 20 years), a poor nation that didn’t have anything to do with 9/11, (which eventually led to Iraq, then Libya, Syria, Somalia, Yemen, and increased hostilities between Israel/Palestine and more sanctions against Iran, etc) the U.S. had a national reconciliation process? The U.S. could have taken a deep look into its policies of violence, coups, assassinations, and other nefarious for profit schemes, and deep into itself to see where, when, and what it had done to engender such hatred and correct those things? Instead the maniacal leaders set out on a course of fomenting more hatred and violence. (As we have said, though, peace is not prosperous, just like good personal health is not profitable to the capitalists, either).
We all know, though, that fear-porn leads to immense profit for a few and abysmal misery for most of us.
To continue the baseball analogy, another issue with this U.S. imperialist policy of never-ending war is that working-class voters and citizens allow themselves to be sucked into the “team mentality” of “my Political Team can do no wrong, and the other Team can do nothing right.”
Recently, a leader of the Blue Team, Nancy Pelosi, (when is she going to hang up her shoulder pads?) took some Blue players with her to meet with their current cause celebre, Zelenskyy, in Ukraine. Many Blue Team players are trying to demonize the Red Team for its supposed ties to Russia, without analyzing the fact that Ukraine and its Nazi regime has been murdering Russians since the Blue Team supported a Nazi coup there in 2014. Even the liberal-all star Barbara Lee (D-CA) who was the only person in the U.S. Congress to vote against giving George Bush the authorization to use military force (AUMF) against Afghanistan is allowing herself to be sucked into supporting Team Azov.
The twitter-verse is filled with Blue Team fans who are encouraging Biden to order a no-fly zone over Ukraine to enhance the potential of nuclear holocaust. If it were Trump mishandling this situation, the Blue Team would be hysterically castigating Trump’s every move, instead of showing support for Nazi-ism. It’s a weird situation.
The Red Team usually likes war, but now they are seeing an opporutnity to beat the crap out of the Blue Team in the Political World Series coming up this November. They still love war, but they can’t pass up a chance to knock this election out of the park.
When you look through the world with clear focus (not like umpires, who seem to have ‘poor eye site” as a job description), it’s not hard to see the crazy manipulation that occurs here on a daily basis: Peaceniks cheering for war and warniks take advantage of those big errors.
No matter what team you cheer for, it is really up to us to reject both Teams and be on Team-Human Being. In a situation where workers here in the U.S. are having a hard time paying rent, filling up their gas-tanks, or buying food, there should be collective anger and resentment against the “pros” that are sending billions upon billions of dollars and weapons to Ukraine: Because this isn’t just about hyper-inflation at home, bottom-line, it’s about the existential threat to most life on planet Earth.
Many Blue Team fans are happy to sacrifice as many Ukrainians as necessary to support their Team, beyond all reason, morals, or compassion. The Blue Team will happily make minimal sacrifices for themselves to bring “freedom and democracy” to Ukraine.
Gee, where in the f*ck have we heard that before?

Just when I thought the dumbocrats couldn't get any worse, now Biden, Schumer and ice cream Nancy have given us the ''Disinformation Governance Board'' - say it ain't so Cindy!
I'm so appreciative Cindy that you are not deceived by the cloak of propaganda we are all subject to, including your Blue Team. Reading it has made feel better this day.
Thank you for the update Cindy.
Glad you can spend time with your family.

I guess it takes disinfo agents to know them properly
Your analogy sums it all up. Thanks. "Human being".
