20-years ago, the criminally insane regime of Bush/Cheney commenced the invasion/occupation of the already war-weary and decimated country of Iraq. No matter how many times their lies and profiteering are exposed, George Bush, Dick Cheney and thousands of others who collaborated in this mass-murder, from the government, to the media, to the Pentagon, are ALL running free and still breathing air with the rest of us.
Of course, my life, and the life of my family, was terribly affected by this war, as our Casey was killed there on April 04, 2004. Personally, I will never forget, or forgive, but Casey was part of the occupational force, part of the problem. In this post, I would like to highlight the anniversary from the perspective of the innocent people who, not only lost their lives, homes, and country, but are still suffering. Really, how dare the people of the U.S. not acknowledge this, as our own country falls down around our ears. The chickens of the war machine are landing firmly here on our “way of life,” on our “democracy” on our “freedom.” Jeez, who could have predicted this?
We owe the people of Iraq (and so many other war ravaged places) so much, but the U.S. still occupies and extracts resources while the people starve, and are poisoned by the toxins that are always a by-product of U.S. military crimes against humanity!
Times like these, I wish there were a hell so the Bush regime, and all war criminals could burn there forever, since I have little hope for worldly accountability. WE should NEVER forget and I hope the souls of millions of people haunt their dreams.
Instead, the images of the war criminals have been rehabilitated by shitlibs who now love Bush/Cheney, Inc because of their hatred of Donald Trump. As I frequently say, “Fuck that shit.”
I found this remarkable video essay and was surprised that the AP posted opinions from Iraqis.
On this awful anniversary of shocking and aw(e)ful, please watch the video below, and remember that the U.S. war machine never runs out of gas.

Excellent piece and video! I don't say this lightly, but it seems in this country, there's just one historical international event you must never forget; just about ANY other horror can be and has been memory holed.
My heart goes out to all victims whether the innocent children who were lured into "defending their country" or the people of the country we devastated... in this case, the people of Iraq. There is NEVER a legitimate excuse for war or murder of any kind. However, the good news is that I am learning that no one dies. We see it that way from our material point of view, but the person we think of as dead has simply left his or her body and goes on to the next realm. I am learning that my lifelong training that all of this is impossible is simply hypnosis without evidence. There seems to be far MORE evidence for eternal life which is very comforting to us mothers who have seen our children transition before us. Sending hugs, love and healing energies to one and all. xoxo
