Didn't Jimmy Carter, and his nonprofit, go to Venezuela for the elections over the decades and personally observe them and declare them to be the most democratic? I believe he said if only the US had such elections.... Kevin Zeese must be turning over in his grave. I remember when he and Margaret occupied the Venezuelan Embassy in DC to prevent US appointed-president-of-Venezuela Guido from taking over.

I again dust off part of a comment from a few years back that ought to warm the confirmation-biased cockles of your heart 💔; it was a response to an article (Glenn Greenwald, maybe?) with the blurb "The Vermont Senator's relationship to the Democratic Party descends from loyal support to abject subservience."

_________________________________________________

Bernie's carefully-crafted, careerist symbiotic relationship with the Democratic Party was always a product of crass self-promoting political pragmatism in the basest sense of the term: a mutual back-scratching subservience.

Ultimately, Bernie is a wily, self-serving old fraud. Lest that statement be objected to as "ageist", I will balance it by adding that he used to be a wily, self-serving younger fraud.

He milked the "principled independent gadfly" shtick to a fare-thee-well-- although apparently a core of devotees weren't troubled or enlightened by the spectacle of this would-be gadfly stooping to reverently and deferentially kiss Empress-in-Waiting Clinton's feet at the 2012 DNC, and in the process leaving his most devoted followers twisting slowly in the wind. Then he repeated the performance in 2016; the 2012 "Last Hurrah" theme gave way to a "Comeback Kid" plotline, but the pretense of critical opposition melting into partisan capitulation remained the same.

Hapless, submissive, and desperate progressive-liberals either forgot or ignored the wisdom expressed in the "Fool me once..." maxim; Team Sanders accordingly fooled them twice.

Critics of Amerikan culture have famously deplored its fatuous reverence of, and obsession with, Youth. Remember how in 1960, the world thrilled to a youthful president seemingly bursting with "vigor"? Yet somehow the current power elite is dominated by elderly, though not venerable, frauds, charlatans, and mountebanks.

Of course, they were all around to witness the fate of that youthful, vigorous president. No doubt it influenced them to find a less risky politics more conducive to the goal of, as Star Trek's Vulcans say, living long and prospering. 🖖🏻 😡

Bernie was never a great liberal. Even in the House, he voted for all the war funding bills--claiming that there were military people in his district. His claim to fame was that Hillary was so awful, that by comparison he was better than Hillary and people were desperate to stop Hillary. He had some good speech writers in 2016. and had some great rhetoric on a lot of issues (that apparently he didn't follow officially) when he was running in that year---but in 2020, almost all he could talk about was Russiagate and his hatred of Trump.

I rated the voting records of the members of the House and Senate on human rights issues years ago over a number of years. Kucinich and McKinney were on the top of the human rights chart--not Bernie. Barbara Lee did pretty well back then. Bernie doesn't do proper research and often spoke out of ignorance. I questioned him in person about Assange and Snowden and he refused to answer the question. HIs version of single-payer was to water it down horrible and still call it Medicare for All. I don't think he planned to win. Pasta and I questioned his campaign strategist about the likelihood of vote rigging in California and the answers seemed very naive. I It really did seem as if he were just working to bring the disillusion in line with the DNC. Niko House had to go the vote-rigging lawsuit without Bernie's assistance. And Bernie's campaign turned my debit card info over to the DNC and I had to cancel it and he also turned over private info of pretty much everyone who assisted with his campaign to the DNC.

Another over-rated politician is AOCIA as CLG calls her. She is totally ignorant on foreign policy and has lied about her background. She is a power-seeker who is only going for herself. I never trusted her and I also saw through Elizabeth Warren right from the start.

As for Maduro, he is a great democratically-elected leader and I hope he is returned home. Delta Force beat up Celia Flores/Mrs. Maduro and broke her ribs. So much for Trump claiming to oppose violence against women. As Venezuela is a Christian nation, so much for his pretending to be a Christian. There are also rumors that Maduro was shot but I don't know if those rumors are true. Mrs. Maduro came to court bandaged up and visibly injured. We need to insist that an independent and competent doctor exam both of them. Trump is a thug and so is everyone who won't call him out on his kidnapping of my current favorite democratically-elected leader and his wife. Trump was also responsible for the violent and bloody coup against another of my other favorite world leader, Evo Morales.

Searched ChatGPT of largest oil reserves. Venezuela was number one, slightly more than Saudi.

Well apparently the truth is that this last time, Maduro did "steal" the Election, which does not make him a Dictator. I had trouble believing this was the case, but when Greg Palast claims this is so, I have to consider this is correct. Meanwhile both Dems and Repubs have stolen elections, including Trump in his most recent election and previously. Bernie had the Presidential nomination stolen from him, 2 times, by the Dem establishment and the Clinton machine made up the total lie about Russiagate to undermine Trump's legitimacy with FBI assistance leaving Seth Rich dead, who was the real source of the truth about what the DNC was up to and sending it to Wikileaks. I assume the FBI murdered him. The Republicans also cheated big time, in both of Trump's wins for the Presidency. Obama had ICE rounding up undocumented immigrants as well. He depotedc3 million people. and as per the Homeland Terrorist Organization Obama also separated children from their parents and cant them to terrible Dention Cenyers and then to unknown families in the U.S. Bernie has sided with Israel, but I think his constituents forced him to cease doing this.Trump has taken this to new depths via I.C.E. and his hateful rhetoric. No matter whether Maduro's election was not completely on the up and up, or not, what Trump and the U.S. Imperialist Empire has done is illegal and terrifying. He is a Fascist. The U.S. is controlled by Corporate Power and the Oligarchs and is by and for them. Our whole system is built on War against the People here and against many other Nations, directly and by Proxy. IMO - not humble - sad and pissed off. Divided we fall. United we Stand perhaps.

Greg Palast is not always correct. I wouldn't take his word definitively.

I have been thinking he might not be correct, but it seems this could be the first time. My point is, it still does not make Maduro’s kidnapping and the killing of Venezuelans by the U.S., justified in any way. I was pointing out the total hypocrisy of Trump and also the Dems.

I'm so sick of his annoying voice spewing the same phlegm-ridden drivel. The pathetic "democratic socialist" slandering an actual Socialist is truly abhorrent. And there are still suckers who think of him as their hero....
