It's great to read this because the older generation of which I am one sometimes feels like it is being swept aside by this rush to digitize everything....like if you ask questions about the digital universe as it seems to be developing, you are " old fashioned" or "living in the past"...the podcast and Cindy's words are grounding and supportive because she and the video support critical thinking. Critical thinking is the foundation of a free society. And freedom is the rarest thing in the world....
When I first showed it at the very onset to my 85 year old mother, she looked at me with a childlike wonder and said....softly....it is unbelievable...and when I responded gently with "It's a different world now, mom" her expression changed to a deep sadness....I think that said it all....
The word 'social' doesn't apply to the internet anymore. Social media? Pshaw!
I created a number of pages and groups in the early days of FB. They were great! A lot of interaction, give and take, etc. So much content I put into them! Now, they are just blobs floating around out there. I am charged with either just killing the pages/groups and accepting the losses or pluck the important bits, copy and paste. I'm talking since 2010 in some cases.
The restrictions on most of them have become so stifling that I don't bother adding anything.
It's an insult, really. Many of us did 'good work'. Like having someone piss on a painting you just finished.
Anyway, yeah we're screwed. Thanks for the TruthStreamMedia video...it was perfect.
I too am overwhelmed by electronic abuse, from the time I get up in the early morning hours, til I shut down the computer at night—and yes, like you say, "this doesn’t even count the surveillance." I don't have a cellphone. I did, in the beginning, rarely used. But the electronic abuse was so overwhelming, I ended up throwing it in the trash. And, now I realize, I don't need it. If the car breaks down, all I'd have to do is look around -- someone will have a cellphone.
Enjoy your blog. Glad I subscribed.
Let the though-police well, you know where they can go. I don't like Eric Schmidt either, much less the rest of the BUSH-bunch.
Cindy, it's great to see you on Substack. This is a great platform for free speech, before it's completely banned. You are an important voice that people need to hear. Please check out my Substack as well. Thanks.
thanks, Donald---so far, I am really liking Substack and it's made me more motivated to write and record interviews, I'd like to have you on the Soapbox again soon, and I subscribed to your substack
I try to restrict online time to 2 hours a day. Most of the time is spent by sifting through incoming emails and by research for my own blog. I abhor the virtual reality (surreality) of the internet but it has allowed me to isolate and thereby reduce the chance of a COVID0-19 infection. I don’t go shopping, every necessary goods are ordered online.
One thing is clear: More internet means less direct social contact, less personal interaction. More internet means that we step by step loose the ability to engage socially with our fellow human beings and that social cohesion is reduced up to a point where the social construct crumbles and breaks down like a house of cards.
I live in an intellectual Potemkin Village, so it's imperative for me to connect IRL with other people that can have conversations about interesting topics. I think substack has been an improvement over fb, because the interaction might not be as much as fb, but I think the quality is much higher. Thanks. Take care
Thanks for sharing. The video is a good source of what is happening in the world today. I have moved to receiving much of my information (like yours) from Substack which does not censor (though I do have to remove myself from authors whose comments gas light mothers of vaccine injured and equate Marxism with Capitalism. Marx was a critic of capitalism.) I do still have a presence on FB mostly because I am warmed by my FB family and nurturing female comrades. Thanks again for this thought provoking video. I know many people (mostly family) who rely on Google like it is a trusted partner. Sigh.
The www became a frightening place where banking accounts, and credit cards are compromised, emails are subjected to porn, fake news, bogus purchases and the onslaught of weird political ads abound. I, too, dumped Facebook for similar reasons, Cindy and despite all the suffering in the world feel calmer and content not being continually bashed by D & R’s for an alternative, educated opinion. Keep on keeping on young lady. We desperately need your voice.

Yes, and even my 30 something children are in the generation that was pre-www

Hey Dolly,
I still have my cell, but I am thinking, very strongly of getting one that only has phone and text and cannot be connect to the internet.
Soon
Thanks for your comments and your kind words!

Any time you want me, I'm there. You know I'm a huge fan. Thanks!
let's figure something out for next week if you have availability.
I am trying to have my friends who are also on substack on to build our community.
Sounds good. My schedule is pretty flexible. Let me know what day and time you're thinking of. Thanks.

Xo. Yes, it’s good we have choice and no censorship.

Thanks, Sister D
I guess the point is to remove toxicity
