My eyes and my heart cried for you as I read your Palm Sunday 2004 story. There is nothing to say but that I am thinking about you and all the others--mothers, fathers, sons, daughters, lovers--friends who have lost loved ones to war and the never-ending trauma of having been to war. It is hard to live in today's world as the USA wars in Ukraine and Palestine/Israel and ramps up for war with China. WTF. Will it ever end? I know what dying animals and dying empires do, but to hard to live through it, especially at my age, knowing I will likely not be able to see the end. It is unbearable. People say turn away from the images of mothers carrying dead babies, wounded and starving babies crying for their mothers. People say look away, but I say fuck you. Look and know what evil your country is doing. I hope you can get through this day. Please know that you are loved by so many who feel your pain and cherish your courage.

I have struggled almost all my life wrestling with the "Love your enemy" charge from Jesus. Then, I ran across this in Thursday's reading of the Divine Office. It's from one of St. Augustine's sermons:
"Every wicked man liveth, either to repent, or to exercise the righteous. Yet, while they are as they are, and exercise us, we will not hate them: for we know not of any one of them whether he will endure to the end in his sin. Yea, oftentimes, when thou deemest that thou hatest thine enemy, he whom thou hatest is thy brother, and thou knowest it not."
St. Augustine goes on to quote St. Paul, 'We wrestle not against flesh and blood, (that is, not against men whom we see,) but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world." Eph. vi. 12.

The limits of Language are so obvious in such situations. Maybe that's a "Vote for Poetry," I don't know. My heart just shattered reading this and I sobbed and am still sobbing. This Mother Wound has to be the most excruciating trauma we carry from generation to generation. I am having such a hard time these days finding anything to feel good about. I see this constant war on the feminine ramping up from every direction, and don't know how to do more. How to stop it.
