Some (maybe most) people here in the U.S. think that Cubans took to boats, rafts, and inner tubes during the 1980s because they hated Fidel Castro. Maybe in a few cases that was true, but Cubans (many with whom I have spoken on my many trips there) will tell me it’s because the U.S. brutally strengthened the blockade against the Caribbean socialist state after the collapse of the USSR. Cubans were starving and they did not want to starve, nor did they want their children to starve. Starvation hurts and is 100% preventable if Cuba didn’t have the unfortunate position of being the “threat of a good example” to U.S. imperialism and neoliberalism. I would do the same thing to save my family. Wouldn’t you? The tiny island nation overcame that “Special Period” and take it as a sense of national pride that they survived and, in fact, in many ways, thrived.

Anyway, the brutal United States of A$$holes, places sanctions on governments all over the world thinking that this inhumane strategy will somehow endear the people to the Giant Bully that is trying to tell them how to live their lives. These sanctioned individuals are not stupid and see that the Giant Bully is losing its grip on the place, and people, where it ONLY has (arguably) legitimate authority. Sanctions have NEVER made a people more favorably disposed to the USA—NEVER. So, of course, the sanction wars have to be for some other reason.

I hope after almost four years of constant propaganda bullshit, most people here would recognize b.s. when they see it. The ONLY reason Venezuela is on any “terrorist” list and being sanctioned is because they have the world’s largest oil reserves AND it has a government that uses a vast amount of profit from that oil to improve the lives of the people. The sanctions have made it less possible for the revolutionary government of Vz to provide services to its people, so there has also been an outflow of people looking for a better life.

No matter how often Genocide Joe claims otherwise, now, since the economy here is in the toidy, the U.S. is temporarily relaxing some sanctions, because it serves their own interests. Please note, though, in this infographic, that the Giant Bully is reserving the right to rapidly strangle, and starve, the people of Vz if it sees the need. The right to strangle, and starve, the people of Vz never belonged to the U.S. in the first place and I wish WE would see and internalize that. YOUR government is the largest, institutional terrorist organization in the world, run by seemingly robotic bureaucrats that just go along to get along as they grease the machine with their blood, sweat, and tears. The politicos are just the public face of this cancerous bureaucracy.

The infographic below is another great tool composed by VenezuelaAnalysis which is also a great tool for news from a very vibrant region that, even with the meddling of the Giant Bully, is doing some very exciting things for the people. We should derive inspiration from what is happening in the Global South, in my opinion.

On October 18, the US Treasury Department issued four general licenses, (temporarily) lifting sanctions on Venezuela’s banking, aviation, gold and oil sectors.

After seven years of ramped-up coercive measures, a Venezuelan migrant surge, global energy concerns and the failure of regime-change efforts forced Washington to change track and opt for sanctions relief, but with constant warnings that sanctions may be unilaterally snapped back.

The following infographic breaks down the licenses, their impact and possible obstacles.

Yes and it's sick that even rfk Jr is pushing that bullshit about Venezuela.

No offense to you and others but he's a stereotypical boomer, stuck in cold war nonsense.

The cold war was the pinnacle of our "1984" style endless war dystopia.

Jimmy Dore calling out rfk's war mongering on Venezuela Iran etc

Everyone knows rewriting a false and stolen trolled historical narrative is wrong and cruel. The usa uses whatever it can whenever it can for whatever duration of time, that it can serve its purpose. And when it does not work anymore it drops it like a hot potato. Yet other false troll based narratives can be used indefinitely without accountability by all classes of people or professions., and by most countries while you neglect other countries.

We have members of congress that seem to do whatever they want because people they don’t hold them accountable, ask questions, they just follow. Once the USA sets the stage for its global films it delegates the easiest roles to unqualified people and persecutes the qualified.
