After turning California into basically a failed state, Democrat Governor Gavin Newsom has his sites set on the big one, the big show: POTUS.
He is currently campaigning for his 2nd (and final) term as CalGuv.
Due to the fact that the urban areas (SF Bay Area, L.A. County and surroundings, and to some extent San Diego, but they really only need L.A. and SF Bay) of California are deeply Blue and religiously devoted to Identity Politics, he will win handily.
To be fair, some of his donors are upset that he spent some money campaigning for POTUS by purchasing ads in Florida inviting Floridians to move to California. This ATTACK AD against someone who is not an opponent for Cal Guv is as bizarre as it is false.
In it, Newsom says that in Florida “women and doctors” are being criminalized, where there is literally a bill in the legislature here to strip MDs of their licenses if they go against the accepted Covid narrative. I am not kidding.
Although I do appreciate California’s support of pregnant women who wish to terminate their pregnancies, Newsom has spent the past 2+ years dictating what Californians can, and cannot do, with their own health.
Citing “a public health emergency” that even Bill GatesofHell recognizes was not so terrible, Newsom prescribed blanket public health orders over the entire population: closing schools, despite no proof that children were even remotely susceptbible to covid; closing beaches and playgrounds, which even his own caucus finally figured out harmed poor children the most; and forcing small businesses to shut down in favor of huge, super-spreader grocery and warehouse stores. Often, Newsom was caught red-handed violating his own orders, with his wife and children, as well.
Since Newsom is related by incestuous political ties to all the powerful Dems of the state, and federally (Pelosi, Brown, Feinstein, etc), he is as out of touch with the working-class as they are. I guess Newsom has to beg people to move to California because since he’s been governor, and especially since Covid, California has been hemorraging people:
Here is a table of California’s net migration statistics:

When I was in college, my major was U.S. History with a concentration in California history. As a native Californian and history buff, the origins of my state and the place where we are now has always been deeply interesting to me.
I learned that besides the mid-19th century Gold Rush; and post WWII influx due to employment opportunities in weapons, and jets, many people moved here seeing news about the Rose Parade and Rose Bowl, which happen in warm sunshine on New Year’s Day every year.
Despite the unmanageable wild-fires, that could be managed if the government really wanted to, and if it wasn’t so deep in the pockets of Pacific Gas and Electric (PGE) and recurring, devastating droughts, California is still a very beautiful place.
Instead of making California a more hospitable place to live: like lowering housing costs, more affordable housing options, less people having to live in tents on the streets, more wild-fire prevention, and better public schools (California consistently rates in the bottom 10 and Florida is way above California), Newsom is busy bashing a state that is 2500 miles away.

Number of People Moving To and From California
"At the end of September 2021, entrances to California were 38% lower than at the end of March 2020. Exits, following a dip early in the pandemic, have rebounded and are now 12% higher than pre-COVID levels—on pace with pre-pandemic trends."

Data from a California Policy Lab analysis; the light blue are people leaving, the dark blue are people arriving. (This tracks domestic migration only.)
I was born in Glendale, CA (although conceived in Newark, NJ), I do recall (at times) some fond memories of California, having lived literally in no less than eight different town between San Diego and San Francisco - from La Jolla to Millbrae - by my 9th birthday. Jerry Lewis' son, Scott, was in my second grade class (of 62 kids). We spent some times at the beach, visited the Redwood trees, had fun at Santa's Village, and also met some very nice people/friends/neighbors. It is hard to think how much California has changed and not for the better. Thanks for this informative post showing how much turds really do rise to the top.
