‘I don’t see racism [in the coverage] and when people say to me the press has been racist, and the wider public has been racist, I think its grotesquely unfair to smear everyone in that way without producing tangible evidence which says this is racist.’ Susanna Reid refuted Piers’ comments though and clapped back: ‘The trouble is Piers that when the women of colour have produced tangible evidence, you dismiss it. ‘You’re not accepting the experience of women of colour who have complained about it.’
Piers snapped: ‘I’m not accepting. Also, I’m not accepting that just because I’m white, I can’t see racism when I see it. I have campaigned against racism my entire broadcasting life.
‘I will listen to, as we had Dr Shola yesterday, lecturing me about what racism is. Just because she’s a black woman it doesn’t mean that she can say, “that is racist” when it’s not.’

As such he was true to form, including joining republicans in killing a bill that would have lowered prescription drug prices. Booker was a presidential candidate in 2020 and clearly still has those aspirations. Given this history, no one should have been shocked about the way he spoke of events in Israel and Gaza as a guest on the MSNBC program All In with Chris Hayes, in which he dared to include all of Black America in his pro-zionist rhetoric.

That’s why the debate in America should not be a debate. Not only did Booker set a record for falsely using the words ISIS and Nazi in one statement, but he also implied that his support for apartheid Israel is something that is in some way connected with other Black people.
