Well, let's face it, the assassination of this Thompson guy is just the tip of the bloated, for-profit wealth/health insurance industry and its apparent objectives: deny claims and rake in as much profit as humanly possible. This may be only the beginning of what the 'little' people have to say about the current state of affairs re: the medical and health 'care' behemoth that has us all held hostage. Total irony that he was killed by a weapon manufactured by a parent company of the outfit he represented.
Indeed there are- 'old folks' homes and 'assisted-living/nursing' homes are perfect examples of the death-cult industry! We could delve into that with very little trouble! The Scamdemic ripped the curtain off that backstage sideshow!
Quite true. Medicare is so inadequate that one is forced to supplement it with an Advantage program sold by private insurers. And even then the coverage is inadequate with deductibles, minimal dental if at all, and all sorts of limitations.
Health insurance is a protection racket for the private insurers. I believe the CEOs of these corporations are on average the most highly compensated of CEOs in any sector.
Cut the military budget by half and we might provide a full set of dental implants — which are never covered by insurance — to the entire population with lots left over for safe public housing.
Either Capitalism goes extinct to be replaced by a higher social order or humanity and the living planet are toast.
I feel the same way about Medicare. My husband and I always had Advantage plans because they took $75 off the cost, but it's still practically worthless to us. I haven't used it in 3 1/2 years, and my husband hasn't used his Medicare in the 8 years he's had it. We check our own health by ordering the blood tests we want from Ultalab.com and get them done at a local Quest office. Cheap and easy. We don't have any prescriptions. We're actually in the process of dropping Part B Medicare right now. We'd rather pay out of pocket to a naturopathic doctor with the money we'll save. We'll still have Part A hospitalization though-it's free.
The first year I had Medicare, I didn't pay for the advantage, or whatever. This year, for some reason, I decided to. It's $22/month for Kaiser, including dental and vision. I AM SO GLAD I DID, since I lost the vision in my right eye and it was repaired within one week of the loss. I'd be blind in my right eye if I didn't have the advantage. That's the only time I've been to western medicine in eight-years.
I sure remember that about your eye. So in CA an Advantage plan is an extra add-on to your Medicare? Where I live, you either take Medicare, or switch totally to an Advantage plan.
I look upon it primarily as “paying protection” so that in case of accident requiring hospitalization there is a limit to how much I would be liable for. Paying protection similar to how a business would have to pay a tithe to “The Mob” so their businesses might not be destroyed.
The idea of insurance is to pool risk which makes some sense but under Capitalism it ends up as a funding source for investments by the Companies in the Wall Street casino and the incentive is always to extract more from the citizens while limiting payouts which in the case of healthcare becomes a disaster for the working class.
I also agree that the whole allopathic farma medical model is flawed and corrupt and part of the same cartel as the insurance sheisters.
Note to All the ProgreSSive Posters who Hate Private Health Insurance: England has Much Worse Healthcare, and It's 100% Grub&Mint.
Nothing is Free unless it's Worthless. There are Other healthcare companies in theis USSA. You might prefer Obamycare from your hero potus. Of course I would Very strongly advise against treating him as the UH CEO was.
I myself have the "1880 Plan" ...... You Live, Then you Die. Simple and low cost. How people managed to survive in 1880 without "healthcare" must be the mystery of the ages.
The few media reports I’ve seen about this have painted Thompson as a saint. Predictable. The reaction of the peons suggests otherwise. Perhaps the propaganda isn’t working quite as effectively as it once did. Will these rackets use this moment to effect change? Sure they will, by hiring security details to protect their 50 million dollar a year autocrats.
I worked for a personal injury/medmal firm for years. Insurance companies pretty much automatically deny coverage and then double down on denial. policies are written like code--and anytime a lawyer cracks a code and gets a favorable judgment on the meaning of a word (like "occurance" ffs), the army of corporate ins lawyers comes in and rewrites the thing. Anyone who blames lawyers for med costs (via medmal suits) has not seen the damage done by both insurance companies and hospital ceos usually too profit oriented to give a sht about ppl's health.
If only this incident would herald the dismantling of the evil murderous for profit 'health' care scam industrial complex (and all the other industrial complexes as well, esp. the military).
in a viable society there would be no such thing as wall street. in our society, I'm thinking that underground action (or preferably the growing development of new self-sustaining small societies) is the only answer. but I'm forced to remember that everyone who invests in these companies is responsible for what they do.
I refused to get ObamaCare as well because THERE WAS NO BENEFIT TO STAYING HEALTHY!! No payment for proactive things that would keep you healthy. I got around the penalty by buying a death/dismember policy from my credit union for $20/month. But what a scam. I truly hope the corporate parasites are scared. Retribution is coming. I'm not FOR killing anybody unless my own life is threatened, but I guess you could look at Thompson as a threat to your life??
Hi Cindy. While I don't know if there's a notable connection between the Mangione and Pelosi families, the thought crossed my mind as well. And this sure is funny-- according to an article from The Baltimore Banner from Dec 13th, "Nancy Pelosi hospitalized after she ‘sustained an injury’ on overseas trip," she tripped and fell at some event. I'm not hoping for a speedy recovery.
Make America Healthy Again can have an impact in the court of public opinion. There are many who have no awareness of any of the problems with food and pharmaceuticals. Real reform will be difficult because all the politicians and most of the public believe in government involvement in healthcare which is the root cause of all of the problems.
My wife and I decided to forgo health insurance a few years ago. Monthly premiums for a family plan were approximately $1200. We are healthy and rarely get sick. Paying in one month more in premiums than we spend annually on care would be silly. We pay cash for our visits which with our homeopathic doctor is $125 per visit. I’ve found that the cash prices for most visits and tests aren’t all that unreasonable. The insurance billing for those same visits and tests on the other hand are many multiples of the cash price.
Having access to purchase actual health insurance for only catastrophic events would be great but due to regulations isn’t available. My advice would be that if you can afford your current premiums to not renew your policy if you’re healthy and instead open a high yield savings account and deposit the premium amount into it every month. After five years you’ll have nice sum earning interest that you can use if you ever have an emergency.
A couple of years ago I had a Part D prescription plan with UHC. I had UHC where I worked before I retired. Never thought much about it because I rarely used the coverage…dentist and eye doctor…both of which I stopped going to when they “mandated” masks. The plan was $22/month. Didn’t think much about that either since I’m not addicted to pills…although my doctor tried to hook me on heart medication for a “possible” heart attack I might get. (I dumped her too.)
Then UHC bumped my bill to $60/month. Turns out they discontinued my plan and “replaced” it with a more expensive plan. I was threatened if I dropped it. (O’bomber was going to send a drone my way or something.) so I ate the $60 for a year. Dropped them as soon as I could and got a plan with Aetna for $12/mo. Then THOSE rat bastards jumped my premium to $48/mo for this year. So I dumped them too.
Now I have Well Care…whatever the hell they are and I don’t give a shit because I still don’t take pills. My premium is ZERO. I couldn’t effing believe it. So I wait to see what will happen next year.
Oh, yeah…you don’t HAVE to have Part D. Just, if you decide in the future you want to be addicted to pills that either are worthless or will kill you, you’ll have to pay a penalty (an extra premium) for your rejection of the health industry scam. (I wonder who gets that money…10% for the Big Guy of course.)
Doctors are dope peddlers, drug companies are cartels, and the “government” is the strong arm thug.

I agree with you. Also there are so many ceath-cult industries and complexes in this country/world.

that is sooo true. And still getting a pass from most people.
Let's do Bill Gates next! 😐
Is Gates getting a preemptive pardon?
He probably has a private army of security specialists to prevent this. He was “pied” a few years ago.
Oh, shit, Gates next, but not Trump Kushner Adelson LLC and Company next first?
Koch and Waltons and Ellison and Zuckerberg and, well, there are lists, man . . . .

You are Totally responsible for You. How's that ? I don't owe you a dime, Comrade.
My records show that you owe 12 cents. Please remit payment soon.
I paid the 1st penalty, then decided to forgetaboutit. That long legged Mack Daddy Obamy just needs a purple pimp hat to complete his ensemble.

That’s why the implementation of CBDC is being pushed through. Once the digital prison is established, there will be no escape.
The media lamenting over this millionaire's death is beyond ludicrous. And they're still trying to figure out a motive?!
I consider myself extremely lucky that I could never afford to be part of this SICK insurance scam....
