Regarding 9/11, I personally think it was an inside job to destroy the Middle East and our civil liberties. Liberals might oppose the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan because a Republican President (Bush) started them, but they're all for the wars against Syria and Libya because a Democrat President (Obama) started those, , and with Trump, well, Trump Derangement Syndrome is alive and well among liberals and neo-cons, and any and all principles have gone out the window.

Now I also think it was an inside job, I think, unless Comrade David Rolde is right and its all a hoax, it was manufactured by the CIA at Fort Detrick in Virginia to use as Cold War propaganda against China, to enrich Big Pharma and empower Big Tech while destroying the economy/people's jobs/small businesses. If it is real, I would be happy with universal healthcare/more medical teams to combat it, and otherwise, let people be free, we're social beings FFS. And why isn't this considered a social justice issue by the left? I have my own Covid-19 story, actually, I was in high school in March 2020, I was about to ask a girl out, she was really cute, I finally got the courage to do it, and then Newscum locked everything down, and I had to finish high school online. My mental health declined significantly, and I could name several examples of how. I know I'm not nearly the only one.

I was 17 when the British declared war on Argentina, for a chunk of rock 8000 miles from home. Young, I was sucked into the propaganda of "Get those Argie's".
Not much more than a year later, I watched a documentary called "Simon's War" about a soldier (Simon Weston) who had suffered horrific burns when the HMS Sir Galahad was sunk. I felt sick and ashamed. My overwhelming thought was "what he went through alone, did not justify the war. Let alone all the other death and misery". For the price of being disfigured, Simon & others who also suffered obvious physical trauma, were prohibited from the national victory 'celebrations'.
This pales into insignificance compared to your story Cindy. I am though pleased to have at last 'woken up' reasonably early in life.

I think, for me, the tear came from shock. My so called "left leaning friends" were fine with Obama's wars. Even though they hated the Orange One, they were cool with Venezuela and Bolivia, saying things like, "well, Maduro can't run a country," or "well, Morales ran Bolivia for 14 years, it was time." I blew up, ungraciously. To me, that was supporting murder and colonialism. At the time, Angela Merkel had run Germany, 15 years. Why wasn't it "her time to go?" I can't be around those ghouls. They lap up peer pressure with an 8th graders enthusiasm.

I comment when I’m “moved”... reading along I thought, geez some butterfly effect is fluttering my thoughts to your keypad... an essay I could have written, only probably by now, also growing up with Viet Nam, my words may have been stronger. I’d add growing up, actually an unexpected waking up with the loud speaker announcement “president Kennedy is dead, shot in Dallas Tx about an hour ago.” Then, another stark memory just a few years later of a HS senior announced over the loud speaker “died in action” froze that moment in time for a lot of us maturing teens. Two years later I was at Kent State May 4th 1970... most of us were peaceful, sitting on the grass outside of one of the dorms, far from a few radicals calling out the unconstitutional involvement in foreign wars with loud speakers several buildings away.... hearing the shots fired froze that moment in time for a lot of us still maturing teens.... then there was complete and utter shock hearing what happened just a few grassy knolls away that forever locked that wake up moment for a lot of us. More waking than those mind blowing stomach turning realities, that four of our college age innocently attending “stop the war” rally goers just like me were shot dead... were the words of Ohio Governor Jim Rhodes on the nightly news ended any trust in government... period... done... frozen in time. Students are Militant revolutionaries?!? Worse than brown shirts?!? The startling reality of waking up with such incomprehensible coming of age events is the evolving ability to recognize bovine piles of manure spewing from media talking heads... the next unconscionable pile of bovine manure.... 9/11.... I could not conceive the vast majority of rational thinking human beings falling for a half million tons of steel, concrete and glass, 110 stories of massively connected steel trusses built to withstand natural disasters was destroyed by fire in under 1 hour and fell in 11 seconds free fall.... that’s a tall pile of bovine manure to swallow... and the people ate two 110 story high piles.
