I gave up on "elections" 20 years ago, but I still occasionally donate to a candidate. I don't imagine that the donation will lead to a change of power via an "election", I'm just rewarding the candidate for saying something courageous or sane. Paying for entertainment.

I look forward to listening later. If you cover my question in the conversation, I apologize for asking.

Did you support Bernie Sanders when he ran in 2016?

I was all in. I even against my own better judgement supported again in 2020.

I have gone on to believe Bernie is most definitely now an establishment stooge, though I still question if this is something he morphed into or if it was always the case.

Although I do agree with you that it is just a charade and as Carlin observed serves only to provide the illusion, we have a choice, I don't currently see anyone actively doing anything to bring around serious change (Russell Brand)?

I might therefore be crazy and I do not subscribe to the lesser of two evil rhetoric, but I do hope that there are degrees of rottenness in who run. RFK Jr is an establishment Democrat which under better circumstances I'd consider far from ideal but compared to Joe, seems a far better choice.

Have you seen his Israel piece with Glenn Greenwald? He looked decidedly uncomfortable and, in my opinion, has a double standard on the matter, that ironically he accused Roger Waters of having. This said, I thought it brave (possibly stupid?) of him to share it via his campaign.

I thought RFKs interview with Greenwald was sick. We do say in this show that if he has no chance why doesn’t he go full anti-establishment?

Expand full comment

Sick how? I didn't listen. Should I? I think RFK Jr is either afraid of being killed or worse his kids or wife harmed, frankly. And now I personally understand why. So I am still supportive of him because of his work against Fauci. And Big Pharma's lies and abuse. He needs to come out against Biden and stop calling him his friend. Re Sanders..he lost validity when he broke with Michael Parenti. And also he was just personally disgusting to me. Public appearance matters ...I think personal hygiene speaks volumes about self esteem. Fidel always looked hot. JFK always hot. MLK always hot. Sanders like a schlubb because he and his wife are just that. Self esteem is pretty important in a leader.

He blames the Palestinians for the trouble and says that Israel is a "model democracy." I mean, nothing I say or think can change your mind, but here is the part I particularly think is horrid: https://twitter.com/zei_squirrel/status/1668557003763990529

RFK's work against big pharma and Fauci is exemplary. No doubt about it.

CHD is a wonderful org and his work there was stellar.

And if he can't stand the heat, then he shouldn't be playing in the vicious kitchen. He is the one person who should understand that better than most.

Sigh.

I don't think he's just "saying' these things, I think he is a true believer. Which is sick and unintelligent in my opinion.

Yikes....yikes...if he had said no comment then MAYBE my ideas could have some believability but REALLY? Jesus...this is very bad news and to think I put on his T Shirt and went around the city yesterday ....fuck....

Yeah…so sorry

I am wearing singer Michael Grimm's hat in the hope he doesn't die. You, my Maria and her kids, my Kathy, John and Gunn and my little Brando are about all I plan to support from this point on...that's it for my nice little Disneyland fantasy.. now I have to deselect from the Dems AGAIN.

Expand full comment

Thanks, but, no, I never supported Sanders. I haven’t voted for a democrat since 2004, and that was more of a vote against Bush. Plus, Sanders is just another soft core imperialist.

I'm still inclined to think he did some good in bringing attention to a lot of people the greed of corporations and the corruption between them and government. What was disappointing was how these same people then suddenly believed that Big Pharma only cared about health. And on that front Bernie was a deranged bastard.

He got the vax. There are serious physical repercussions from it, correct?...some doctors are now saying that it is affecting parts of the brain, like reasoning and processing....so maybe what goes around comes around in the medical profiteering.

Bernie identified as an actual socialist when he was mayor of Burlington, Vermont. When he got to Congress he immediately backed away from that label and claimed to be a "Democratic" socialist. He voted and caucused with the Democrats and they let him blather on about universal healthcare and other fantasies he knew would never come to pass.

His campaign for president in 2016 caught on because the population is desperate for someone to represent us. The Democrats sabotaged it at every turn and what did he do? He bent over and endorsed Hillary. He did the same for Biden. Twice.

He has made a deal with the devil and has lost any credibility he may have had.

Spot on. I can still watch the 2016 convention where the delegates went on for minutes chanting "Bernie, Bernie" and it brings a tear to my eye.

It was over months before this following his second summons by Lord Obama. The Political revolution was shattered. Supporters refused to believe the truth "Bernie is just playing chess" being a favorite chant. Others got it but had no clue what to do. It went from "write his name in", Vote Biden, Vote Green etc. I personally went directly to the Green ticket and did everything I could to persuade other Bernie supporters, but it was hopeless.

I still debate the sincerity of his first run, I still like to hope it was genuine. Contrary to what some believe, I think his campaign hut Hillary. I hope so. But today I see little difference between him and his "friend" Joe. I can't bear to even listen to him now.

The sad irony is that Jill Stein offered to step aside and let Bernie have the top spot on the Green ticket. But no, he had to bow to his masters. That was the last shred of hope for a third party in this country and he flushed it down the toilet.

Expand full comment

Bernie Sanders was never even close to being in line with the 10 Core Values of the Green Party, though.

I believe Stein asked him more than once.

I guess in truth, the signs of his intent was always there. I remember being so frustrated by his not calling out the DNC's antics.

Yes I think he is very conflicted for many personal and political reasons about the Palestine occupation....

Expand full comment

He doesn't sound conflicted, he sounds very clear about his positions.

I remember go round and round in 2016 with people about Sanders, like this....so, my history is repeating itself. I think Kennedy's campaign is self-destructing, but I can't help myself commenting on it. I should look at that, and just let it go. Nothing I do can make it go one way or the other. I just wish him health and happiness and wish he would get back to important business. But, what does one have if they have a wish in one hand, and shit in the other?

Please remove the above post. I am no longer an RFK Jr supporter after listening to Matt Taibbi's interview. He is blinded by his ignorance on this topic and that is very scary...even if he were ambivalent or admittedly ignorant I would have hung around but this is pure ignorance and he apparently doesn't know the difference between wise proclamations and dangerous ones....

What post did you want me to remove?

The one that begins with hmmmmm .....I listened to him several times in the interview and it is troubling that he said Israel is a democracy when it is as much an oligarchy as the US and the fact he said that Palestine is dealing with a country that somehow is treating it fairly....is he pandering with that much conviction? See that's the problem now...credibility. I am tired of being duped by Democrats. Republicans are scum but they really don't hide it behind a facade of righteousness...I am not voting in the next election. In fact we do not have a democracy. We do not have a system that supports its workers. We do not have a system that moves us towards justice. We make nothing. We take everything. We are nothing. The lousiness of leadership throughout the world will end with the elimination of the human race with sickness from nuclear weapons. Bless the beasts and the children, for in this world they have nothing....

He's not ignorant. He's pandering.

I think he thinks Israel has its problems but there is no way he will criticize it....and that means he is pandering as you say and that means he's a Democrat...oh yeah he is isn't he...stupid me.
