Gee whiz, Cindy! Just the other day I righteously bitched about mass-media repeatedly forcing the ugly mugs of various Rogues' Gallery celebrities upon the public, e.g. Hunter Biden and the allegedly late Jeffrey Epstein. And here you go and foist the abominable DWS upon us!
Fortunately, breakfast is long past and dinner is still a few hours away. So I didn't projectile-vomit upon this laptop screen.
Perhaps I should say, "Et tu, Brute?" But, upon consideration, I guess flashing this Gorgonesque visage at us is a visual object lesson in the imperative of allowing freedom of expression regardless of the odiousness of the content.
Thus, I reluctantly concede that it would be hypocritical to insist that you censor such repulsive imagery merely to spare the sensibilities of decent and/or sensitive people. 🤮 🤔
The whole thing stems from a lack of responsibility. I'm responsible for what I say and I'm willing to own it. It's your responsibility how you react to it. The two things are explicitly distinct from each other. I hurt your feelings! BS! I don't own your feelings. You do. Why have so few people understood this simple fact? Sticks and stones is more than a cute childhood saying.
Yes! And a corollary to this is that I own and am responsible for my own immunity. No one has to wear a mask, or get a vax for me. “Protecting granny” was such a bullshit trope. This granny is protecting herself and it worked. And, that goes for everyone else. If anyone thinks they are vulnerable to illness and immediate death, then they stay home, order their groceries, and turn into a sun deprived turnip.
I an so glad to find people that get it. Those masks were the height of stupidity; the upside is that it does help identify the sheep and brain dead. Like you, I felt no shame either. I had only one confrontation and it didn't go the way the Karen expected. But I almost lost it a few times when I saw small children having to wear the face diaper. Child abuse in my opinion, but I don't waste my breath with people living in fear and ignorance. You definitely are my kind of people, Cindy. Thankfully I woke up. (Credit to 9/11)
I wrote a "Substack" blog a couple of months ago that argued the phrase "Free Speech Absolutism" is an oxymoron, because Free Speech is antithetical to all forms of Absolutism, Totalitarianism, Fascism, etc. Kind of academic and wonky, perhaps, but my basic idea was that Free Speech destroys the possibility of a Totalitarian Project, so the concept of a "Free Speech Absolutist" is actually quite absurd, since any form of Absolutism would categorically have to deny "Free Speech." Long story short, or short story long, Free Speech is a nice bulwark against Tyrannical government speech. The "Game" these days seems to be to convince us that we're all nut-jobs, and just "Go with the Flow, wherever the Flow is going," and never mind where it winds up. Got the Memo, but not really assessing the "Data Sets" according to Form. Thank you for continuing to stand up to this Totalitarian nonsense we all face! Kind of crazy to say it like that, but it's pretty obvious these days. Things could be a bit better, if folks all around allowed for things to be a bit better, and not merely more bitter. Hope all is well your way, Todd
I've been receiving enormous pushback on my latest Substack piece discussing why thinkers as varied as J.S. Mill and feminist theorist bell hooks advocated for freedom of expression even for reprehensible views https://jeffreynall.substack.com/p/whats-wrong-with-silencing-ideas
You misquoted me Cindy (and I really don't talk like a Valley Girl, lol).
And I actually wrote it (so I don't understand how I got misquoted).
I stated clearly: "There has never been a USA President since 1948 against Israel's EXISTENCE!"
And I live in Florida, I couldn't jump off a cliff even if I wanted to :P
I think I have read that you think Israel has no right to exist (and please correct me if I misquote you).
The NON-existence of Israel by any USA President simply won't happen.
And it would disrupt everyone who lives in the MidEast, not just Israelis and Palestines, if Israel was to no longer exist. It would be like wishing all the countries in Western Hemisphere for hundreds of years into non-existence because of the Native American (North and South Americas).
So I don't understand your wish against Israel's existence... what is the goal of this endgame?
And I also asked you to address your SOLUTION to I/P... still waiting like a skeleton meme.
Sorry, I talk like a valley girl. Kathy was my across the street neighbor then I realized that was you as well. For one thing, it’s a logical fallacy to demand someone who ie critical give a solution. I have many solutions, but what good would it do to say it? No one in power cares what I think.
Lol, I am talking about the voice inflection you mimicked as "me". Your neighbor Kathy must be born same year, we were a dime a dozen on my street too (Kathys and Cathys!).
Not demanding just wondering why top item on your list does not have solution priority.
I am by necessity solution-oriented as caretaker of Dad when he was still here and adult disabled son, never had time to wish conditions (or countries) away, but situations did change with ever-evolving solutions over the years.
thank you, it was my Number 2 Grandson's 13th birthday yesterday, so we were doing a mini celebration until we can do the blow out. I have three grandchildren who are teens now. I am so proud of all of my grandkids: Jonah, 15; Jove, 13; Coh; 13; Jackson 11; Jill 8; Austin 10-months. I feel like I have to keep pushing to try and help save the world for them. Much love.
There is already war by Israel against the Palestinian people.
Isn't it warmongering to wish that continues?
The USA began by war--wars against imperial powers, or wars for liberation can be considered just wars. Self-defense, as in the case of the Palestinians is always justified.
I see no peaceful end to this. Israel won't stop until every Palestinian is exterminated, or in refugee camps outside of their rightful lands.
The Jewish "State" of Israel was created by a lot of violence....
I appreciate your engagement, but to kind of intimate that I am a warmonger is offensive. I want a RACIST, VIOLENT, OPPRESSIVE, APARTHEID state out of existence, not a peaceful paradise. Was it warmongering to oppose the violent, racist, apartheid South African state out of existence as it was before the BDS movement?
We are going to have to agree to disagree about Robert Fitzgerald Kennedy and the Palestinian issue. We are never going to come even close to agreeing about it and I am feeling that our debates are going around in circles at this point.
I see RFKjr as our best candidate to domestic justice and international peace, considering his incredible humanity to forgive AND release Sirhan Sirhan. To me, he has the most ability to be open-minded and at the same to reach out to others. I don't plan to be silent on future discussions about RFKjr, but yes on this one thread, shaking hands and (((BIG HUG))). Much love and great admiration for you always, and of course PEACE xoxo

Lol. You know you just gave me a challenge, right? 🤣
I have no intention of ever shutting up!

Libs are enemies of free speech
Even ACLU defends the right to speak reprehensible views that they abhor.
Of course, the line is that First Amendment never supported violent ACTIONS.

Thank you Cindy! :o)
Thank you as always Cindy. You keep me going. Take care out there.
xo, and you as well!
Maith thu!
Bravo!
Agreed!

No nation has a right to exist by the way
Nations do exist, that is just a fact. Wishing them away is not going to happen.
And what would you hope to happen if your wish against nations actually occurred?
The alternative of Totalitarian Globalism is terrifying to me.
Nations existing and their right to exist aren’t the same thing. They come and go
I am for a Palestinian state. Not the atrocious state of Israel. But I am at my daughters house. You have a great rest of your evening. Peace and love
oh, enjoy your wonderful family Cindy. :) xoxo

Yes, and nations coming and going are due to wars.
So, isn't it warmongering to wish an existing nation out of existence?
I am hoping for a peaceful solution of separate existence or co-existence.
