Western establishments, most of all the US, are in an advanced state of decay and decline, and are being eclipsed by the BRICS alliance, most notably the immense economies of China and the resource base of Russia. Thus they turn towards war as their only option to try and rescue unipolar hegemony. The risk of hot war is very real and an argument can be made that it has already begun via proxies.
I was in Oaxaca for the inauguration of AMLO, and learned that he was elected because his primary opposition were all in prison. Despite knowing a handful of Spanish words, I could see the excitement and hope. I did not support everything he did, but I was glad to see him unity Latin America to oppose USA dominance. I am hopeful that Sheinbaum will take his gains to the next level, the "fourth transformation." I have mixed feelings about the draft vs. all volunteer poverty army. I supported Charlie Rangel's statements about the draft, but my hope is that the USA shrink its military, close all overseas bases, and stand in defense only, regardless of the route to service.
The draft MUST be reinstated or at least close enough to ignite the fire in the belly of thepopulace. My brother was drafted into the Vietnam War.
