"Sick", like "bad", is another semantic flip. There is also "illin'": in 1986, the Run-DMC song "You Be Illin'," coined it as a pejorative. That same year, the Beastie Boys album "Licensed to Ill" semantically flipped the new pejorative and treated it as a synonym of "way cool". How sick is that?

Pedantry aside, I'm conflicted about impeachment. Sure, Trump has earned the privilege of being impeached again. But "impeached again" points to the dismal truth that the US Constitution has long since been flung down and danced upon by the political class, so we don't have "real" impeachment proceedings any more.
I don't count rhetorical piety and lip service, including Congressional Elected Misrepresentatives who cultivate a reputation for being fanatically devoted to the Constitution. "My" Philadelphia DA and Pennsylvania Senator, the late Arlen Specter, reportedly carried a pocket-sized copy of the Constitution with him at all times. Since I don't keep up, I'm not sure if politicians expressing ostentatious reverence for the Constitution is still even a thing.
The Constitution is like a classic car that has been stolen by juvenile delinquents, taken for a long and punishing joyride, and finally abandoned in a ditch. The chassis has been stripped of crucial working parts. 📜 ⛍
Now, as Cindy knows all too well, "impeachment" has been reduced to a political stunt. None of this is meant to justify or excuse Jeffries, who is clearly echoing the Gorgon Pelosi's reprehensible proclamation that "Impeachment is off the table" after the Dems lured progressive-liberals into giving the party a landslide victory in the 2006* midterm elections.
Jeffries doesn't want to be the second coming of John Conyers, whose ostensibly principled calls to impeach Dubya Bush were swiftly and successfully cut off by Pelosi. Speaking of "cut off", at the time some pundit explained that the ferocious Pelosi was keeping the severed gonads of Conyers and the other nominally "pro-impeachment" and "antiwar" Dems in jars under her desk. 😡
Oh, and get well soon! I never get tired of saying that. 🤒 💐
* Edit: I had 1986 on the brain. It was the 2006 midterm elections, of course! 😣
Brilliant description of the Constitution, Ort. Sad to say.
Ironically, perhaps, I began to pay more attention to that foundation of our system in 2020 when I started listening to RFK Jr. At the beginning of the six year nightmare that has changed the world.
RFK Jr spoke a great deal about the Constitution in his interviews, which only brought to mind, for me, precepts and principals that I have long taken for granted.
I began to think of it more in terms of "them there's fightin' words!" then a lofty set of rules and regulations.
I wish we had been taught that we are supposed to, if not exactly fight authority, to always always question question question. And address if necessary. And, OK, fight when called upon.
Just one of the many eye opener's brought to you by the gaping rabbit hole of the past six years.
Sorry to hear you are under the weather, comrade! Of COURSE Jeffries would say something like that; he's been a big recipient of AIPAC money! His leash is short and connected to Miriam Adelson, Larry Elliot and who-knows-whose purse strings? The Demroids aren't going to 'save the day'. When people defend Biden by comparing HIS shenanigans with Trump's jackassness...I have to remind them that it was JB who threatened our very lives 'we're running out of patience' during the COVID CON, knocked out small businesses across the land while allowing Big Boxes like Walmart to remain open, shut down schools and churches but kept liquor stores open, did the whole ridiculous 6-foot BS, continued to pump up Ukraine and Israel, LOCKED US DOWN and so forth! What that jerk and his party DID do was to soften the target for the return of Trump, allowing THAT jackass to do just exactly what he has done-strike the final blows leading up to the complete dismantling of this broken promised land.
Of COURSE they won't impeach the guy...he did exactly as he was told...with some extra for effect.
300 episodes?! Holy macaroni. Keep at it sistah. xo
Hope you're taking care of yourself. Something's been going around lately as many friends have been sick within the past two weeks... I remember the "Impeachment is off the table" event, how hard some of us fought to get the Bush man impeached. Bush was constantly defying the Constitution and civil liberties. He made permanent damaging changes to this country and the democrats just continued his policies once they got into power. Americans seem to have very short memories.
Democrats and Republicans--two sides of the same coin. Both are bought and paid for by multi-millionaires. Not sure why so many Americans continue to side with one or the other... If only we could make America remember again...
I just saw this on my local fb page. Oh my Lord. 56 years today since Kent State.
Why do we not speak about this as we do JFK, MLK, RFK, 9/11, Oklahoma bombing, Waco?
All these years later - I had no idea. The injury, the death. No guardsmen were ever sentenced.
This was atrocious.
I was a sophomore in a catholic high school. We never discussed politics. But that afernoon Sister Charles stood at her desk, almost shaking, and began discussing Kent State. I remember being so surprised - that a nun would be angry at the government. She never came out and said that, but the fact it was even brought up....
I find it curious that there has not been more focus on this incident, and more investigation.

Hope your better soon! Thanks for sharing all.
Get well soon. Hakeem Jeffries makes Obama look like Malcolm X.
Hope you feel better soon!
