The Phoenix Program was hideous as cited. Think of McCarthyism gone lethal.

My parents who were kind of beatniks were constantly horrified during those years. The McCarthy years.

The American War was a continuation of the War on Asia...it began with the decimation of key towns in Japan and followed up with the napalming of the Korean Peninsula...next in line, Southeast Asia. It is still happening 'though eyes have turned (back again) to China.

The Far East has always been a fascinating target for the US Empire.

Amerikans and their psychological warfare- digging into the deepest parts of a culture's fears and superstitions. Sick, pathological- a blight on this earth and to all who wander upon it.

I tend to look at the American military experience across the Pacific as our 30 year was against Asian people (1941-75), and we used WMD in each conflict: Nukes, napalm, Agent Orange, possibly even biological agents in Korea. The American War Machine has been as relentless as remorseless since 1945. The trend now seems to outsource our war-waging through proxies (Ukraine, Israel). The rise of the "Global South" nations should help curb US military adventurism in coming years.
