“Our culture today is so fast and too often, mindless. It’s no wonder many of us cleave to diet gurus, political pundits, t.v. personalities, religious figures—anything to relieve us of that pesky activity of being forced into actually thinking for ourselves. “ Yeah, that’s the lesson here. Why not pay someone to get rich “thinking” for people who don’t? (!) A right on piece! The biggest tragedy here is the too-large number of people who uncritically follow the unethical, even if the consequences come slowly.

Mr.

But also, tell me what to do, tell me how to live, tell me what to be outraged about.

On what to angry about: This post I found included a line about tissue not allowed, not being able to wipe away a child’s tears that was heartbreaking to read:

eating slow and chewing 25 times is good for many reasons including ample saliva enzime in every swallow. intermitant fasting -- skipping a meal when feeling "intoxicated with 3 square meals everyday" -- definitely has worked for me. combining concentrated food like cheese or hummus with fresh vegi/fruit roughage like celery sticks and apple pieces also works for me. eating fresh home-cooked simple but diverse meals is the key. my body is yet to completely lose my eating habit, after 20+ years!!, from my pregnant and breast-feeding days when i ate for two, but it's getting there... thanks for reminding me of some good ideas i neglected.

Besides learning about Shamblin, I was also reminded to be more mindful. We can all grow, I think

I’m a dietitian. I’m fit and middle aged and so I get questions: what do I eat, etc?

After so many years, I tell people this: just eat real food when you are hungry, and ENJOY it. Eat plants. Lovingly. Food is about love and family and nurturing and pleasure and gatherings… and so of course our sick society encourages the opposite : Eat garbage and also hate your body. I actually woke up to the lies in general by being a dietitian- the flip flopping of what’s good for you, who funds research, chemicals allowed in food here but banned elsewhere, etc etc.

"Eat garbage" alone in your car.

My grandchildren and I constantly have this discussion--they LOVE to put the garbage in their mouths, because those banned chemicals make it addictive, along with the unnatural, bright colors. They understand that the food is not good for their bodies, but they also wonder why toxic additives are allowed in the food, which are good questions.

Just because they love to eat the garbage, doesn't mean their parents allow them to...they are getting to an age where they can walk down to the 7-11. Thanks for your comment!

Loved this post Cindy. You and I are both deep diggers and "ex-Catholics".

In my case, used to call myself a "recovering Catholic" but feel "all better now" for many years.

Fully recovered.

But that was a really interesting dig.

Imma try that mindful chewing. Gained 15 lbs between March 15 2020 and March 15 2023.

I lost my business in that time period and slowly packed on the pounds.

I am normally my 90 year old mum"s "essential person" but when my brother visits, he gives me a break. Anyway: he buys and eats bread. Then he leaves... Then: Mum sends me to the store for whatever bread she's now totally OCD about...

All of the bread that he used to buy? Actually sucked.

Therefore, I've become a Portuguese bun baking expert. Perfected a recipe and "no knead" technique. (Took me about a month of experimentation. A lot of trial, some failure, and 10kg of flour...)

So that's where the last 5 lbs came from. My damned near perfect Portuguese buns. (Which my mum loves.)

My brother arrives again today. Made outstanding meatballs this morning. Defrosted a container of Bolognese sauce. Made buns...

But: will start CHEWING them!!

Love you Cindy. ❤

Aw, thanks for your share!

Didn’t we all gain weight from the fascism? Stress is also something I need to learn to manage.

Love you and your Portuguese buns back!

I used to also call myself a recovering Catholic, but I feel cured, myself. Popes like Joseph Nazi Ratbastard helped the process
