Short sleep and split sleep are a natural part of growing old.

Around age 65 my wakeup time moved earlier and earlier, and I soon settled into the ancient pattern of two shifts. 6PM to 10PM for first shift, 1AM to 4AM for second shift. This pattern was the accepted way of sleeping before industrial timeclock slavery.

Don't worry about it, take advantage of it. You've got plenty of other things to worry about!

I’m not worried about the insomnia. I think it’s my other worries causing it. Thanks.!

yes, thinking is deadly for sleep. what about relaxation tapes? something very light that you enjoy reading? I'm assuming you know to get up and do something and not just lie there.

if all else fails, I'd say you need a hiatus from politics.

If only politics would take a hiatus from me.

Politics: greek for work of the people---not many ticks.

Me too! I now sleep in shifts, and have stopped worrying about it. I used to be able to sleep 8 hours at a time, but actually if I sleep too long at one stretch now days, I can hardly get out of bed. :) (I'm 77 and have the added problem of CKD). the thing is not to worry, and to take advantage.

Sleep alludes me most nights. Fall asleep quickly but only last a few hours then wide awake. Agree with you Ms. Cindy the worlds problems creep into the early morning hours creating enormous anxiety.

Oh no, I meant that my Medicare Advantage authorized my medical test tomorrow! I was going to pay out of pocket if they did not get it authorized in time for Saturday appt.
