Dear Friend of the Soapbox
After I transferred my email addresses from my old newsletter service and sent out my first post on Substack, I received a few responses saying things like, “Hey, Cindy! Nice to see you back.”
Very confusing, because I never left and I have had the Cindy Sheehan’s Soapbox Podcast and blog since my successful (not in the sense that I beat her, but we came in 2nd and had a great campaign) run against Nancy Pelosi in SF in 2008. I have posted over 400 podcasts and hundreds of articles. Besides all that, I have done and organized some pretty incredible events over the years.
Why did some people who were on my original email list not know these things? First of all, after I recognized that both Democrats and Republicans were the enemy, I was dropped from your cable news shows like a hot potato. Secondly, when I started holding King Barack to the same standards as I held Bush to, media outlets like Democracy Now dropped me like an even hotter potato. The final reason is that my weekly newsletters were going into most people’s SPAM folder. Many thanks to all that is good that I switiched to Substack and my dear, old friends can see that I am still here!
But, what have I done since 2008 that should have been newsworthy, but were “ghosted” by the captured media/organizations?
In 2009, I published Myth America: 20 Greatest Myths of the Robber Class and the Case for Revolution and went on a speaking tour all over the country. This book was my attempt at a manifesto and my grappling with the fact that tens of thousands of people thought I was a racist for not supporting Obama, and therefor, no longer supported our peace work.
In 2010, I helped organize Peace of the Action: a two week encampment in front of the White House during the Obama regime.
Also in 2010, I went to Vz with a small film crew to make a documentary called: Revolution, A Love Story about my hero Hugo Chavez and the Bolivarian Revolution. No movie was made (footage stolen by a disgruntled ex-friend), but I published a book with the same title.

I did a lot of antiwar organizing during the destructive war criminal Obama’s regime, but it had little to no impact due to the fact that many Democrat-liberals thought Obama was a Nobel Peace Laureate. In 2012, I ran against Obama/Biden on a ticket which was led by the not-so-funny comedian Roseanne Barr with the Peace and Freedom Party.
In 2013, I did the most wonderful thing of my activist life since Camp Casey in Crawford, Tx, I rode my BICYCLE from Santa Monica, Cal (on Route 66) to WashedUp, DeCeit in a three month action we called Tour de Peace. We stopped and did an action or meeting almost every night along the way. It was the best-kept secret ever, no matter how hard we planned. Interestingly, there was a young man hitting a golf ball across the country for the hell of it at the same time, and he got many times more coverage than our amazing action did!
Also, 2013: Publihsed I Left My Marbles in San Francisco: The Scandal of Federal Electoral Politricks
“I Left My Marbles in San Francisco is an insider's view of the US political climate told with the honesty that Cindy Sheehan is famous for and humor that surprises everyone.
Marbles is Cindy's account of her surprisingly successful run against Nancy Pelosi for Congress, her observations about the corrupt electoral process and her recent run for VP with comedian/actor/author/activist, Roseanne Barr.”
2014: Ran for Governor of California on the Peace and Freedom Party ticket.
2015: Published: The Obama Files: Chronicles of an Award-Winning War Criminal (foreword by Larry Pinkney).
2015-2017: My main reason for existing during this time period was to give end of life care to my wonderful sister/friend/colleague/comrade/fellow rabble-rouser Dede Miller, who sadly passed away from the effects of breast cancer treatment just one day after Trump was sworn in, 2017.

2016: Became Public Enemy Number One again for some peoples’ apparent delusion that I didn’t hate Trump enough.
2018: Founded and organized Women’s March on the Pentagon for peace in reaction to the liberal, solely anti-Trump Women’s March.
2019: Organized Rage Against the War Machine with Women’s March on the Pentagon.
2020-2022: Trapped at home and still maintaining The Soapbox.
I am sure I have left out many, many actions and work I have done, but the above are the highlights that my brain can recall.
Just like everyone, in my personal life, there have been many ups and downs. The biggest “ups” have been the gifts of my five (and one on the way) grandchildren: their very existence, and the peril the world is in, give me the energy and the determination to keep going.
Again, thanks and welcome to my new Substack. It’s super-great to be back in contact with you all, and even greater to still be in contact with the rest of you.
Love, peace, solidarity, and good health,
Cindy Sheehan

What a delight to have you here on the elite writer's forum! (I consider Substack my go-to place for intelligent, well-researched and truthful content). And wow. I had no idea you did all that! I also loved Chavez and could stop a conversation cold bringing up all the reasons why he was a better leader than anyone we could even dream of electing. Looking forward to reading your books, reading your blogs, and hopefully voting for you!! Rock on sister!
Cindy, you are an inspiration. I'm newer on the 'Cindy scene' so was unaware of your amazing past. My admiration is now greater than ever.
