Here on Cindy Sheehan’s Soapbox Newsletter, we have been burnin’ it up with political hot topics, so I thought we’d take a light break, mostly so we can get to know each other better.
I wanted to be an archaeologist, that’s why that choice is there.
Being from a lower-working-class family, I didn’t have many opportunities for education when I was growing up, but I read obsessively and loved history and old things (now, I am an old thing). We spent many Sundays at the L.A. Museum of Natural History, as it was free (maybe it still is?). When I was a young mother, I had the opportunity to go back to college, and majored in History, which was the closest I felt I could get to archaeology.
That’s right, I wanted to be Cindianna Jones and I still have an affinity for excavating things; now, it’s truth, and real history, not the junk I was taught at even highly regarded institutions as UCLA.
Did you make it to your desired profession when you “grew up?”
What did you want to be when you grew up, if your choice wasn’t on the list?
How did your environment and upbringing influence your dreams, and eventual reality?
There are no right, or wrong answers, just lived experiences because who you are is more than your occupation.
I never even, in my deepest heart, imagined I would have a son that was killed in another illegal and immoral US war for Empire, because I felt that was “done” with Vietnam. Even after Casey was killed, I never dreamed I’d be where I am today.
Life has a way of getting in the way of plans.
Love & Peace
Cindy

I wanted to be a horse trainer living in the woods with d animals, because people gave me so much grief. After processing my childhood traumas I became an Ayurvedic physician.
Cindiana Jones, I love it!
I wanted to be a truck driver, but was told by my middle class family that I really wanted to be a doctor or lawyer. I dropped out of college three times, then went to technical school and became an Electronics Technician. I like to fix things, so it was a good choice for me.
