Ok so the Atlantic & others have been reporting that Substack is a platform that refuses to censor, and worse than 4Chan. You know, "Nazi" type behavior - free speech, anti-war, and (gasp) anti-vaxxers.

So some folks (likely from the left) are subscribing to certain Stacks, then reporting the charge as fraudulent, to try to jam up the payment processing, or even get people kicked off Substack.

Ugh. Makes sense though

There are certainly entities that have the time and inclination to do such things. Pathetic bastards.

Funny- not funny- how this recent roll out of censoring attacks came on the heels of the most recent WEF confab and the Davos Meeting. You'll notice how msm, for example, is folding anti-vaxers in with (now) climate change deniers. It's all connected.

Yup. In some cases these individuals might be paid actors - though I suspect a high percent are just true believers. The journalists are definitely paid to rile them up, the psy-op propaganda is spoon fed to them (NY Times reported there are now over 400 "fact check" sites, vast majority tied to Gates, WEF, etc).

For example, the 4Chan comparison is a dog whistle. If it weren't for 4Chan (Qanon) and Facebook (Cambridge Analytica), Trump wouldn't have won. So, the suggestion is, these "free speech" people are going to get Trump elected again! It's their fault.

I am sorry to hear you’re going thru such a hard time. I hope it improves especially on the income end. Let me know if it becomes critical. Your writing ✍️ is phenomenal (not to mention your constant struggle with the hand you’ve been dealt).

Much love (mucho encantar)

from Mexico 💜.

I am ok, Deborah. Really. I am keeping my nose above water, but when I check my bank balance and things are being rejected because someone reported me as FRAUD, then the money gets stolen from my bank, it does cause more financial angst. It doesn't happen every day, but, it's always without any warning at all.

That’s so wrong.

I'm sorry, I don't have much money, but I know you are not a fraud at all.

Frankly, I'm afraid of that kind of abuse too as I have some whistleblower types thing to say.

I tend to hide out instead because I have been through too much abuse and trauma due to the matter.

I welcome and appreciate your voice, so loud and clear.

Stripe has been messing with a bunch of my favorite writers on substack.

I can't imagine how someone who reads Cindy's stack could claim "fraud" about anything.

I smell RATS.

On the topic, I received an E-mail from a reader in Vancouver, Canada a couple months ago who tried to become a "Paid Subscriber," but was denied. I looked up Stripe, which is the payment processing service that Substack uses, but still have no idea what the hang-up was. I do have one "paid subscriber" (really bragging here!), and those payments keep going through. There are lots of financial service shenanigans going on; for example, "Go Fund Me" freezing funds to the the Grayzone for no stated reason. This seems to be the "State's" template for throttling dissident voices going forward, like what "Oh, Canada!" did to the Truckers and some of their supporters 2 years ago. One of the voices inside my head tells me that the US Treasury, and its subcontracted affiliates, are playing games. This is just a guess. Sorry to hear that you're having to deal with this problem, but I sense a tightening of the screws coming on, like the Digital Services Act in Europe, where "sovereignty" is now a thing of the past.

Maybe the ones who don't respond to me. I know about 3 personally so I think those were truly mistakes.

Well, I have fraud alerts set up for my one and only bank account. I was scammed about a year ago and am grateful for the 'help'. They are great most of the time but even once you've said NO you didn't approve a charge, they then lock your account down and kill your (in my case) debit card. The next thing that happens is you have to wait 7 to 10 days for a new card and number!! Meanwhile if, like me, that account is tied to online payments- you get emails from those receivers that say things like 'unable to process your payment' or what-have-you. So, I don't think any of us goes out of our way to use the term FRAUD...and I think it's good that you are telling people what the charge actually looks like because I have had to do a couple of double-takes myself.

What a world we live in! Trust is a thing of the past, I fear.

PS: I love you too and I love that pic of you being arrested while-pregnant.

I had to change the picture, I am that vain...lol...especially since I have lost 50 lbs since Last May.

I never got arrested until after Casey died. First time: 2005.

Are you saying that I was pregnant in that photo?

LOL.

I haven't been pregnant since 1985 and I didn't even have a uterus in that photo. Yikes!!!!!!!

Fuck! I have to look at it again. I didn't think you could've been demonstrating while you were preggers but, let's face it Cindy, you have broken all kinds of rules and barriers! LOL

And you've never been fat so...I dunno. :D

Jeff Childers at Covid and Coffee has also been having subscriber payment problems, as have some other substacks. Jeff has moved to an alternative donation platform, which might be an option -- see https://pages.donately.com/coffeecovid/form/frm_d5439c877fe2

There seems to be more and more "bad karma" hitting Substack:

Yes. Apparently The Atlantic went on a tear about substack harboring Naaaaazies! Hm. Wonder what prompted that? (snark)

I've noticed some oddities in subscriptions, NOT yours. Another subscription seemed to generate a mysterious fraud alert. I think the alert was actually malware. When I clicked on it to resolve it, a "tracker" got into my computer that halted AVG and messed with other stuff.
