Back at you although I don't personally celebrate "Easter" today. Haven't for 40 plus years. (Former Catholic, still recovering.)

I will, however, be required to endure the "17-20" person gathering I'm prepping my share of the potluck for. In "celebration of Easter" today. 😉

Give me strength.

It is what it is Cindy. Isn't that what they say?

Glad to hear your family brings you joy. ❤

Happy Easter to you too, if it ain't out o' keepin' with the situation. 🌞 ☮

An obligatory personal reminiscence: my one and only older brother J. was, and remains, a devout (Roman) Catholic. J. was, and more or less still is, highly intelligent. In my early years I was a typical younger brother (and "baby of the family") sidekick and follower.

Thus, I mostly uncritically accepted J.'s lofty pronouncements as, er, gospel. But I still remember the time that he tried to tell me that Easter is by far the most important feast day/holiday in the Catholic calendar. You know (I paraphrase), because the Resurrection was the Grand Anti-Finale of Christ's life, and the basis of the Catholic faith.

I heatedly demurred. Easter the biggest holiday of the year? No freaking way! It was fun to dye eggs, and getting baskets of candy was a treat. But it was basically Halloween in Spring, with bunnies instead of bats. 🦇 Surely this could not compare with Christmas, with its gala house decorations, overall festive atmosphere-- and especially presents. Lots of presents! 🎁🎁

No, J. piously remonstrated-- Christ's resurrection is obviously more momentous than His birth. I wasn't at all impressed by this theological technicality.

I still think his priorities are all screwed up. 🤨 Anyway, enough of this preface that's now longer than my intended comment, to wit:

_______________________________________

When I got out of bed this morning and blearily peered out my back bedroom window, even before I finished putting on my glasses I could see the blurry forms of two bunnies frolicking in the Peaceable Kingdom. ("The Peaceable Kingdom" is my name for my tiny suburban back yard, although sometimes the birds and especially the squirrels do their best to disturb the peace.)

By the time I went downstairs and pulled out the camera, only one Bun was in sight. Too bad I can't upload the photo here.

There are also Easter birds and squirrels, but so far they haven't left me any eggs. 🐦 🐿️ 🥚 🥚

That's funny--I had the same reaction about Easter being the most important holiday. I used to argue that Jesus couldn't have risen from the dead on Easter if he hadn't been born on Christmas!

I don't use the app---I use Substack on my laptop.

There have been annoying changes on the site, as well.

We'll get used to them.
