Super post, ms Cindy. Here's a funny thing , a 90 yr old pal said that after taking lots of vit C, her sweet tooth went away... more grist for the mill... can you say most people are suffering from subclinical scurvy...  ''The GAA Theory In the 1970’s, Dr. John Ely discovered the Glucose-Ascorbate-Antagonism (GAA) theory.

Glucose and vitamin C (ascorbate) have a very similar chemical makeup.

This theory proposes that elevated glucose levels  compete

and effectively restrict vitamin C from entering cells.

Both glucose and vitamin C depend upon the pancreatic hormone insulin

and  its signaling effects in order to get into cells (7).

There is an important protein transporter called the GLUT1 that activates

in response to insulin interacting with the insulin receptor to allow both glucose and vitamin C to enter the cell. However, glucose has a greater affinity for the insulin receptor.

 This means that

the greater the content of circulating blood sugar the less vitamin C will enter the cell (8, 9).''

yeah BUT, ms Cindy, it;s dose dependant- eg this ol'mexhanic got dbl pneumonia pleurisy, took vi C... geez, it was useless...ha,ha Then you find out 500mg x 4 pd was a joke - the body needed 1 Gram x 10pd min...so, the 2nd time it struck [snowshovelling again] ...ko'd it with megadosing...some of us learn the hard way, eh?

Vitamin C actually helps make things taste sweeter apart from all the other benefits for healing the body.

Congratulations Cindy! I don’t know where you are on the diet spectrum, but I highly encourage you to work towards a Whole Foods plant based diet. It has been shown to prevent cancers, diabetes, heart disease., and on and on. Animal protein and foods have been shown to cause cancers, and heart disease amongst other things. People rave about a keto diet but they don’t work because people regain the weight when they start to eat normal again And it’s downright unhealthy. I highly recommend the sites https://nutritionfacts.org/ and https://www.forksoverknives.com/ . Michael Greger’s book “ How Not to Die” is worth reading too. https://nutritionfacts.org/book/how-not-to-die/

Great advice! The NIH and CDC should read this column, except that they're in the Big Business of keeping people in the dark and under the heel of Big Pharma and the Processed Foods Industry, and don't want to let any dirty secrets about basic nutrition out of the bag. Vitamins C and D were verboten to mention by Public Health "authorities" during Covid because of course that was an obvious way to steer mostly clear of this "novel" pathogen, or variant--and most likely lab-engineered-flu virus. Hey: Lockdowns didn't help!

As I say to people, cure for Covid is in the name. Vitamin C for Cure and vitamin D for Defense.

The lab issue is a red herring, it was all a scam. Covid 19 is the 'flu rebranded.

I agree about covid being a flu with a very aggressive PR department.

I have found the same things to be true myself regarding sugar and alcohol. And I really felt terrible reading this essay while consuming a cheese danish from Costco which I promptly cut into quarters and only ate one piece. Oh well, progress is sometimes slow but this essay was a good reminder nonetheless

Great! I fell like if I backslide, I will go cuckoo bananas with the sugar. I am hardly even tempted anymore, though

Sugar is like a drug in many ways. It has NO nutrition unless it's contained in fruit. It's horrifying how many people are addicted to poisons like donuts and think it's ok to give them to children! Remember when Krispy Kreme was giving out free donuts to the jabbed? 🤔

I agree. However, I have a dilemma. I'm trying to gain weight, so I started eating more of the junk you mentioned.... Since I have stage 4 kidney disease, I'm between a rock and a hard spot. Oh, well, I'll figure out something.... :) Very good advice you're giving people re sugar.

I am so sorry about your kidney disease, that sounds terrible.

You do what you need to do for your body, but I think eating these foods would bring more inflammation and more stress for your kidneys? I like Blessthebeasts suggestions. Also smoothies with maybe banana, frozen berries, coconut milk/water, protein powder and greens? I don't know what your system can tolerate. Anyway, much good juju coming your way, Marie. xo (I also put avocado in my smoothies).

You should eat healthy fats like avocados, nuts and seeds that have plenty of nutrients, not just calories.

Great reminder, Cindy. I've always felt that the best and biggest FU I can give to anyone or any system is to simply not need them...make them irrelevant. The "healthcare" system is one of those I seek to free myself of, and making myself healthier is clearly the best no-brainer approach. Congratulations on your first 113 days!

Thanks! In an age where some idjits say that being healthy, or striving for better health is a "conservative" value--we need to reclaim our lives and our dignity.

Sugars can be an issue, more particularly the refined sugars, but one must not replace these with neuro-toxic sweeteners which will be even worse.

You're on the right track Cindy. Let me suggest you take a look at Paul Saladino's book, "The Carnivore Code." That book changed my life.

Cutting to the chase, I lost over 70 pounds of body fat...not weight...body fat. I went from 31% to around 5% in about a year.

Everything...and I mean EVERYTHING we've been told by the "government" about food is a LIE! (You don't say.)

Sugar IS good for you, but not refined sugar. Carbohydrates ARE good for you but not what's in Cheetos. Salt IS good for you...in fact the body can NOT live without salt! (It's even mentioned in the Bible.)

Sugar in fruit is the best kind you can eat. In fact, the sugars in fruit are there so you WILL eat them and poop out the seeds so they can survive. (As opposed to vegetables that have chemicals in them to prohibit you from eaating them. Saladino covers all this in his book.)

Don't worry about overeating salt...it takes care of that for you. Unless you're eating Cheetos. They use the salt to stimulate your taste buds to consume the transfats. And YES, in spite of what they put on the package there are transfats in most of the food you're probably eating...especially if you're overweight.

And don't forget fasting. I've been fasting for a little over a year. I eat one meal a day twice a week and one "meal" of fruit 5 days a week (mostly berries...rich in antioxidants), yogurt and cheese (dairy, in spite of what Steve Jobs said, is GOOD for you).

It has amazed me how little food I need to survive and thrive which saves a hell of a lot of money on food that gets thrown away because it rotted in the fridge.

I could go on all day but nobody wants that.

Remember, EVERYTHING from the government is a LIE! ALMOST everything from "modern" "medicine" is a LIE. You've got to figure all this stuff out for yourself, but there is help out there.

Eat right...live right...show these rat bastards we'll outlive them yet. (Have you seen the gut on Gates?)

I have so many other thins I do every day. I am going to share maybe once or twice a week, but intermittent fasting is one of my ploys. I tried to go OMAD, but I just can't eat enough when I do that. I eat at 9 and 3, or 10, and 4....I am doing 18/6 fasting. I try to do a 24 hour fast at least once a month. Himalayan sea salt is an important part of my daily routine.

My next post will be about walking.

I will never forget how EVERYTHING from the government is a lie.
