RFKs position on Israel is terrible. He's actualy encouraging the genocide. Really sick.

I disagree but anyone who knows me well, knows why. Ceasefires won't work against Hamas. Kennedy knows that. He also knows Netanyahu is a psychopath. Does he think babies and mommies should be slaughtered and all Palestinian territory claimed by Israel? I don't know. I doubt it. But he is not in any way shape or form the same as Biden or Trump. He was raised in the 1950's (like me) and in a family of tough Irish men and women. RFK Jr more than likely saved my health because I read his book about the clot shot and refused to take it. He will as president focus on the healthcare issues of Americans, try to fix the issue with the oligarchy and billionaires and decrease military spending. Realistically, no one else will. We are never going to have a better chance of steering the USA in a better direction. A perfect direction? Hahahaha. Oh and I doubt very much he gets off on dead Palestinians. He knows more about MURDER, death, hate, loss than many of the folks on this thread. Some of you live and work in California, many in the bubble of Northern California...there is no other viable choice than RFK Jr if you have any serious affection at all for what the USA COULD be. Jill Stein? I don't think so. Cynthia McKinney? I don't think so. Barbara Jordan...oh she's dead. Anti-Semitism anyone? It's spreading like wildfire thanks to Netanyahu. I bet there is some lurking under these posts here, eh?

Joanna, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has made many offensive comments related to the Palestinian people. What he just told Piers Morgan “In 1945 or ’44 at Casablanca, Churchill and Roosevelt had an argument because Roosevelt said we have to de-N@zify Germany and if we don’t de-N@zify Germany, it is going to, you know, the N@zis are going to rise up and do the same thing again. Churchill did not want an unconditional surrender for the N@zis, he said we’ll have to kill too many civilians to do that and everybody will fight to the death, but Roosevelt won that argument, and we killed about two million Germans during World War 2 in order to get into Berlin and de-N@zify it.”

Are you seriously comparing Gaza to one of the most evil and despotic regimes in human history?

Shame on you, Mr. Kennedy, Cease fire now! Roosevelt was as wrong then as Israel is wrong now killing children because they will rise up and do the same. How many innocent men, woman and children were killed by the US for same reasoning in nuclear bombing of two Japanese cities? Russia had already devastated the Nazis, the war was for all practical purposes was over. Kennedy is such a beholden puppet to the Israel propaganda narrative and doesn’t deserve to be president. RFKjr, Biden and Trump are of the same ilk when it comes to supporting violence, massive destruction, crimes against humanity and genocide. I am a 79 year old confirmed anti-vaxxer since the 1950’s. I so much wanted RFKjr to be president but his conflation to the Israeli narrative is a game changer.

Israel has no justification for their out of control destruction and murder. Kennedy is against ceasefire and is supportive of genocide and ethnic cleansing, that says it all. He doesn’t deserve to be president. He is no different than Trump and Biden when it comes to being pro-Israel.

Back in the '50s my Dad, who was definitely not a radical, clued me in to the purpose of those loyalty oaths. He told me that a real spy wouldn't hesitate to lie, but veterans who had suffered in the war were offended by the requirement to swear loyalty. They had already given part of their body and soul.

In other words, the real purpose was to single out loyal Americans who resented tyranny.

You're fortunate to have had a father like that. I recall my Mom being quite pissed about what happened to me.

My friend used to have a tee shirt which read “Kill a Commie for Mommy”. Your teacher would have loved it.

Why are commies bad? It is so obvious. They are bad because they are "bad" for capitalism and everybody knows that capitalism is best. Best for who? For capitalists who hate communism because the evil communists might interfere with their profits so we all must be taught to hate communism too. It really is that simple, think about it. BTW I do not necessarily think that communism has the answer to everything either.

I never said that they were bad. My teacher did

Exactly, we are "taught" but I have an automatic cynicism towards what I get told. All governments tell the public just what the leaders want the public to believe and so many of the public are conned, I despair.

Yes, obviously I rebelled against my teaching as well. From the time I was 7.

I believe that overall Kennedy is trying to do good. I do not believe that is the case with Biden and Trump.

If we all repel others for holding an individual different opinion to our own then surely all hope is lost?

Who agrees with another person 100% on 100% of things?

I agree with Cindy concerning RFK’s stance on Israel. I don’t agree with Cindy’s reaction because of it. Should I therefore cast Cindy on the trash heap of lost causes because of this one difference? Should Cindy kick me off the Soapbox because of my opinion?

If we all become that fragile to our differences, I believe those that seek to keep us divided to conquer have won.

On a tangent. Have you seen the interview between Naomi Wolf & Nicole Shanahan?

Again TECH runs the world. OUR generation is mostly dead and dying or will be in 20 years. It's a NEW world and it is not OUR world. Kennedy is going after the support of the young and he is getting it from what I can tell. Biden is a stalk of yellowed broccoli who should have been political trash decades ago and Trump? Be forewarned. He still has cache in a huge portion of the country. His supporters are strong and determined. So which of the Holy Trio will it be? From where I stand, our best bet is the man with an actual functioning brain even if I don't like everything he says and does. He could be persuaded. The other two? Wall Street pundits love Trump, rarely mention RFK. And the Bay Area .....Democrat stupidity for Good Old Joe. The slimiest slime who ever lived.

Expand full comment

I believe TECH is just one component of many dictating things. It's greed that is the common denominator. Greed of money, greed of power, greed of control. Whether Tech, Banking, Military, Pharma, Oil, etc etc, they are all just driven by the same selfish desires.

I don't view RFK as a typical politician, despite his heritage. As he says himself, he is running to stop the erosion of the system (or words to that effect). I believe he means this and isn't just making nice sounds.

I don't like his position on Israel, but I personally see zero sense in making this a red line crossed, given his competition is as bad, if not worse on the same matter. I find the cut my nose off to spite my face quite selfish, because there are many, many issues that RFK will help on. Where's the gain in punishing him for one thing? It's an idealism that is as flawed as anything RFK is guilty of. I appreciate you understanding this and wish others here would be more open.

Thanks Martin. People's personal pain and anger often block their ability to stand back and critically assess situations. And that pain can be a lost child, an abusive parent, a neglectful situation...you name it. But things are so drastic right now I fear that if we do NOT elect RFK, we will be facing mass shootings, much more homelessness and rapid increase of mental illness...the end of what older people remember as a decent place to live and far from perfect. Thank you for your thoughts.

Thanks Martin. I am not happy about RFK Jr's lack of opposition to mass murder. I am just guessing here: is he trying to maintain emotional and physical stability in his personal life given his early trauma and his first marriage? Because we all know we NEED family support and some more than others so we don't end up drugged, living in a tent, on the street inhaling deadly fumes from cars barely missing us. Or being assholes in DC like most of them are, so hooked into a corrupt system they can not see the forest for the trees. And this even includes the BEST of them. DC is a toilet. Kennedy hopes to move it towards a clear stream of water we don't piss in. Israel and the Middle East is a shit hole that no one has been able to fix but it was sold to all of us in the fifties as a refuge against anti Semitism. Who knows what RFK Jr really thinks about it deep inside. I don't. I just know either Biden or Trump will destroy what is left of all our lives. Kennedy more than likely will stick his finger in the hole of the DAM and the DAMNED.

I would recommend watching the full interview. Link provided below.

I would be surprised if any Soapbox readers didn’t agree with Kennedy on everything he talks about except Gaza.

If people are waiting for a representative that is 100% in alignment with their own beliefs, good luck.

I don’t care how many other things I agree with him on, his support for racist, murderous Zionism reveals his true character, and will never be able to trust anything else he says.

I don't buy into supposedly pragmatic "least evil" arguments, so I don't care if Bobby spends all of his free time escorting old ladies across busy streets when he's not in the throes of a Ziocaine fit.

Instead, I'll share another common experience: in parochial school, I obligingly recited the Pledge along with my classmates. But, being a precocious* little chap, even then I didn't take it seriously.

* My third grade teacher was a truly pleasant, cheerful nun; I don't remember what I said or did to elicit this, but I said or did something (outside of class) that caused her to beam at me and say, "You know something? You are a VERY precocious child!" I asked her what that meant, and she replied that among other things, it meant that I was smart enough to look up the word for myself.

Anyway, the Pledge always seemed like a silly, or pointless, ritual. I wasn't enthusiastic about reciting prayers, either, but at least it was theoretically talking to God. The idea of pledging anything to a piece of cloth, no matter how gaudily symbolic, seemed absurd, according to my lights-- even if I hadn't yet understood the concept of "absurd".

Also, we had our own version of the "abusive question", mutatis mutandis: once in a while the nuns would school us on the unmitigated evil of godless Communist regimes. They usually terrorized us with the information that in Communist countries, squads of soldiers routinely and randomly stopped persons on the street to ask them if they were Catholic, or worshipped Jesus Christ. If the citizen answered affirmatively, they would be machine-gunned on the spot.

I admit that I was never directly asked "What would YOU do?", but even the "moderate", submissive kids would say (when out of the nuns' earshot) that they would immediately and cheerfully say "no". We didn't analyze the scenario, but we instinctively figured that we could be forgiven for the relatively minor sins of "bearing false witness" and cowardice. OTOH, violent death is forever. Who needs it?

This option was obviously to be avoided, regardless of the promised outcome of instantly becoming residents of Heaven, and spending eternity with Jesus in the Throne Room, wearing a starry crown.

Careful Cindy, You might get labeled as a Gasp !!! Confederate !!!

But, seriously, All Governments are Primarily Concerned with Their Own Survival as the #1 Priority.

If there is a majority of Citizen support the society is happy, if not then not. A Republic is "supposed" to cure the Flaws of a pure democrazy of "two wolves and a sheep deciding on what's for lunch"

But No System is perfect or works without flaws at best or abuse or death at worse for it's citizens.
