I would have "advised" him to take a different course of action, if I knew him. It's a terrible thing, but Gaza is way more than the sum of that in terms of terrible. Useful Idiots podcast "Monday Mourning" led off today covering the fact that the NYT and other MSM outlets totally white-washed the purpose of Bushnell's protest with generic headlines. I think Aaron Bushnell was confused, and did what he, in a young man's confused mind, thought was right. The Buddhist monks in Vietnam, the "burning bonzes," knew that this mortal flesh is transitory, thus they could burn themselves to death for a particular cause, no questions asked. I would have "advised" him to take a different course of action, if I knew him. It's a terrible thing, but Gaza is way more than the sum of that in terms of terrible. Aaron Bushnell was quite clearly not a Buddhist monk, without the discipline, so, yes, he acted-out, as they say: burning yourself to death is a helluva way of acting out. Don't know enough about this kid to make a hard-and-fast judgement, beyond the fact that he did what he did for "clicks" that he'll never see. It's quite true that neither Israel nor Hamas or good guys, and, it might be the case that they are the "Same Guys." I wouldn't rule anything out at this point.

A young fellow of 25 years with an incredible level of empathy, understanding and compassion. His unit had just received orders to ship out (deploy) from what I have seen. He was unwilling to be a part of the killing machine. While I hope he stirs the hearts of his fellow airmen and other military personnel- perhaps they can find a way, as Woody Guthrie suggested:

Dear Cindy, I agree and feel same way. Being the daughter of a Korean War Veteran (dad) suffered horribly PTSD all his last 50 years of his life. He always flew the US Flag upside down (nation in distress) and lately I think, what if, would "Americans" care if all of us, pro-peace ,antiwar, Veterans, veterans for peace, veterans who have "had enough", war, deaths, genocide, could we ask them, all of us to protest at our states capitals, not only hold upside flag, but if we all in protest, "burn the American Flag?!" do you think anyone would care? would the so-called fake Patriots care?
